The crowd froze for a moment when they heard Seraphina Simmons's words.
Many onlookers turned their gaze toward the commotion, eager for the drama.
Harmony Banks bristled. "Who are you accusing of wearing fakes? You country bumpkin!"
Little Bean yelled at the top of his lungs, "You're the bumpkin! Your whole family is! Mom, that necklace around Harmony's neck is completely fake!"
A faint smile touched Seraphina's lips as her gaze slowly drifted to Harmony's collarbone.
Noticing the stare, Harmony raised her voice. "What is that look supposed to mean? Are you trying to say my necklace is fake?"
Tilting her chin higher, Harmony clutched the jewelry, her tone dripping with confidence. "Let me tell you, my mom bought this for me when she went abroad last month. It's from a highly exclusive designer, completely handcrafted!"
"Do you think everyone is as broke as you, unable to afford anything decent?"
Melody Monroe quickly grabbed Harmony's arm. "Harmony, don't be so harsh. Ms. Simmons was always neglected at home, so she rarely gets to see real luxury items. It's not her fault she can't recognize them."
A glimmer of amusement flashed in Melody's eyes. She had thoroughly investigated Seraphina's background.
Her mother had passed away early, and she was an outcast in the Simmons Estate.
On the surface, Melody seemed to be defending Seraphina, but every word was a calculated jab meant to humiliate her. She wanted to cement the image of Seraphina as an uncultured nobody in front of everyone.
Unfortunately for Melody, she had no idea that Seraphina had completely severed all emotional ties to the Simmons family long ago.
The veiled insult didn't affect Seraphina in the slightest.
