My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 159

That evening, Samuel Simmons came home early, free of his usual business engagements.

Zelda had purposely ordered the kitchen to prepare a lavish feast, waiting patiently at the dining table for her husband.

When Samuel walked in and saw the extravagant spread, he paused in surprise. "What's the special occasion?"

Zelda smiled and stepped forward to greet him. "No occasion at all. Can't we just have a nice meal?"

Samuel gave her a skeptical look, sensing something was off, but didn't dwell on it as he sat down and picked up his silverware.

Halfway through the meal, Zelda suddenly let out a deep sigh.

Samuel looked up, his face full of confusion. "What's wrong?"

Setting her fork down, the smile on Zelda's face morphed into a look of deep distress. "Honey, Sienna is carrying the Sullivan heir now. That should be a wonderful thing, but I just can't shake this uneasy feeling."

Samuel took a bite of his food, asking casually, "Why are you uneasy?"

Zelda lowered her voice. "Think about it. The Sullivans have always been lukewarm toward Sienna. Sure, they agreed to the marriage because of the baby, but they haven't actually signed the marriage certificate yet. Nothing is official. What if..."

She paused, glancing at Samuel. "What if Sebastian takes a liking to someone else? What will happen to Sienna then? If she gives birth and they refuse to take responsibility, where does that leave our family's reputation?"

Samuel frowned, his fork halting mid-air.

Seeing that she had his attention, Zelda immediately struck while the iron was hot. "That's why I think our family needs a powerful backer—someone the Sullivans wouldn't dare offend."

Samuel set his silverware down and stared at her. "What backer?"

Zelda had been waiting for those exact words.

She leaned in closer, dropping her voice even lower. "Think about it. Seraphina is now the first lady of the Langford Group."
