My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 164

Samuel's face flushed with anger. "Now that you've married into the Langford family, have you forgotten basic respect? How dare you speak to me like that?"

Little Bean scoffed. "Can't anyone point out when she's wrong? Is his ego really that fragile? He's more immature than an unborn baby."

Sensing the volatile atmosphere, Zelda hastily plastered on a smile to smooth things over, terrified that a fight would ruin her master plan. "Oh, let's just eat, the food is getting cold. It's rare for Seraphina to visit, let's not bicker and ruin the mood."

As she spoke, she shot Sienna a meaningful glare.

Taking a deep breath, Sienna forced her sweet smile back into place. She set the wine glass down and picked up a teacup instead. "You're completely right, Seraphina. That was thoughtless of me. I'll toast you with tea instead."

Seraphina didn't move a muscle, simply fixing her with a cool stare.

Sienna held the cup suspended in the air, her smile strained to the breaking point.

"Mommy, look at her hand shaking," Little Bean mocked. "Is she feeling guilty?"

"She's not feeling guilty," Seraphina replied silently. "She's furious."

"Furious about what?" Little Bean asked, confused.

"Furious that I'm not falling into her trap."

After a prolonged silence, Seraphina finally picked up her teacup and took a tiny sip, offering the bare minimum acknowledgment.

The tension at the dining table was palpable.

Samuel focused entirely on his food, Zelda kept up a stream of meaningless chatter, and Sienna occasionally chimed in with her soft, delicate voice.

Seraphina barely spoke, picking at her meal with a lack of interest.

Little Bean had been holding his tongue, afraid to disrupt Seraphina's observation, but he couldn't take it anymore. "Mommy, when are they going to make their move? I'm practically falling asleep here."

"Soon," Seraphina assured him internally.

Sure enough, halfway through the meal, Sienna suddenly winced.
