My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 191

Samuel Simmons stayed silent for a moment. "What do you want to do?"

Sienna's tone was obedient and earnest. "Dad, I want to do some actual work. I don't want to just sit around the house all day. I heard about Seraphina's patent, and I'd love to learn more about it by shadowing her."

"I was hoping you could ask her for me, to see if I could get the opportunity."

Samuel frowned. "You want me to ask her? Do you really think she'd do me a favor?"

He had no desire to humiliate himself.

Seraphina's attitude every time they spoke made him incredibly uncomfortable. Seeking her out was practically asking for torture.

He knew Seraphina would likely just shut him down without a second thought.

Sienna spoke up anxiously, "But no matter what, you're still her biological father."

Samuel sighed. "Give me some time to think it over."

Hearing this, Sienna knew there was a chance.

She nodded. "Okay."

After dinner, Samuel headed upstairs, walked into his study, and closed the door.

He thought about what Sienna had said.

He was Seraphina's father. Even if their relationship was strained, if he personally asked, would she really dare to shut him down?

At that thought, his stubborn pride flared up.

He had fought his way up in the business world for years; who didn't give him at least an ounce of respect?

He wanted to see if she would actually have the nerve to refuse him.

Samuel grabbed his phone, scrolled to Seraphina's number, stared at it for a few seconds, and pressed dial.

It rang several times before connecting.

Seraphina's voice came through the line, cool and indifferent. "Hello?"

Samuel cleared his throat. "Sera, it's me."

"Yeah. What is it?"

He could feel her coldness, but he forced himself to speak anyway.

"Sienna wants to learn a few things. She's quite interested in your patent and wants to shadow you to gain some experience. Do you think you could show her the ropes?"
