My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 198

Keeping him desperate was the key to making him work harder.

Setting her phone aside, she flopped onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling as an unshakable grin remained plastered on her face.

Meanwhile, as Sebastian drove home, the image of Sienna's tearful face played on a loop in his mind.

Gripping the steering wheel tighter, he took a deep breath.

He couldn't afford to go soft.

He silently reminded himself of the facts.

This woman had lied to him.

Yet, another voice whispered that she had humiliated herself and begged for a favor solely to help him.

Frustration gnawed at him.

When he walked through the front door, Victoria Sullivan was still sitting in the living room watching TV.

Looking up as he entered, she asked, "You're back? Who did you have dinner with?"

He changed out of his shoes and dropped onto the sofa, completely avoiding the question.

Noticing the conflicted look on his face, she pressed further. "What's wrong?"

"Sienna."

Her brow instantly furrowed. "You met up with her again?"

Leaning back, he massaged his temples. "She managed to secure the patent files for me. She invited me to dinner so she could explain everything face-to-face."

Her expression darkened. "What files?"

"The technical data for the patent. It's not the complete set, but it's enough to resolve our current bottlenecks."

She sat in silence for a moment before issuing a stern warning.

"Sebastian, I've told you before. You can use that woman, but you cannot trust her. She has a hidden agenda for doing this."

He remained silent.

She pushed further. "Did she bring up the marriage again?"

"No."

She blinked in shock. "She didn't?"

Standing up, he replied, "She explicitly said she didn't want anything. She just wanted to help me."

Staring at her son for several seconds, she suddenly let out a cold scoff.

"And you just blindly believed her?"
