Sebastian remained silent for a long time.
Seeing his reaction, Sienna's heart began to race. Had she overplayed her hand? Was he suspicious?
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he spoke.
"Sienna."
She looked up at him, her eyes still brimming with unshed tears.
Meeting her gaze, his tone held a rare note of awkwardness.
"Don't do that again."
She blinked in surprise. "What?"
He paused. "Don't go begging people just to help me. Stop putting yourself through that humiliation."
"The data is highly valuable. It's going to save the company. Thank you."
Hearing those words, she knew she had secured her victory.
At the very least, he wouldn't treat her with the same icy disdain as before.
Her eyes remained red, but a genuine smile blossomed on her face. "I'm just so happy I could help you."
He looked at her, clearly wanting to say more, but he held his tongue.
His tone shifted back to its usual calm, steering the conversation back to business. "This Lucas Zimmer,"
"Is there any issue with the files he provided?"
Shaking her head, she assured him, "I had someone review it. It's completely clean. He didn't hand over everything, but what he did provide is one hundred percent authentic."
Acknowledging this with a low hum, he didn't press further.
She softly asked, "Do you finally believe that my feelings for you are genuine? I was just confused before. Everything I did, I did because I love you too much."
He completely ignored the question.
After a moment, he merely said,
"Eat. The food is getting cold."
Watching him, a slow, triumphant smile curved her lips. She didn't push it.
Picking up her silverware, she took a few bites of her meal.
She knew that his refusal to answer was an answer in itself.
He didn't say he believed her, but he didn't call her a liar, either.
For the current state of their relationship, that was more than enough.
