My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 289

The next morning, Seraphina headed downstairs for breakfast like clockwork.

Lucian was just buttoning his suit jacket, preparing to head out.

Spotting her, he instantly strode over and gripped her arm to steady her descent.

"Why didn't you sleep in?"

"Because you haven't eaten." She leveled him with a serious look. "Susan made the pan-fried pork buns you love. Sit down and eat before you go."

He stared down at his wife, feeling an invisible tether tug sharply at his heart.

His schedule was brutal, and more often than not, he survived the morning on nothing but a shot of espresso.

But ever since she moved in, she made it her personal mission to ensure he was actually taking care of himself.

"Alright," he surrendered, guiding her into a chair at the dining table.

Susan bustled out from the kitchen carrying a steaming plate. "Mrs. Langford gave me strict orders first thing this morning. She knew you had back-to-back meetings today, so she demanded a massive breakfast spread."

He threw Seraphina a loaded, deeply affectionate look.

"What time did you wake up?"

"Around six. I got up to use the restroom and couldn't fall back asleep." She grabbed a fork, transferring a crispy bun to his plate. "Eat. They'll be ruined if they get cold."

He took a bite. The rich, savory juices flooded his tastebuds, instantly hitting the spot.

"Incredible," he praised.

Her eyes crinkled with obvious delight.

"Make sure you eat your own food."

"I am." She took a sip of her juice. "What kind of meetings did you say you had today?"

"An acquisition summit," he replied, grabbing a napkin. "There's a struggling tech firm out in Aventine looking for a buyout. Jules ran the numbers and thinks their framework is solid enough to absorb into our broader portfolio."

She nodded thoughtfully. She didn't fully grasp the vicious complexities of corporate takeovers, but she always made an effort to listen whenever he confided in her.
