He blinked, thrown off by the sudden interrogation. "It's called Stellaris Systems."
Not Paradox.
A wave of intense relief flooded her chest, quickly chased by a spike of raw anxiety.
"Have you ever heard of a firm called Paradox Logic? They're an AI developer based in Aventine too," she probed cautiously.
His thick brows pulled together.
"Paradox?" He ran the name through his encyclopedic mental database. "No. Doesn't ring a bell. Why?"
"Could you..." She took a measured breath. "Could you hold off on signing the paperwork for Stellaris? Just long enough to look into Paradox?"
He stared at her, utter confusion radiating from his dark eyes.
"Sera, why on earth are you suddenly taking a sudden interest in obscure tech startups?"
She bit down hard on her bottom lip.
She knew how completely deranged she must sound right now.
A heavily pregnant woman suddenly demanding her billionaire husband pivot a multi-million dollar acquisition to save a defunct firm a thousand miles away? It defied all logic.
But she couldn't out her unborn son's psychic abilities.
Not yet, anyway.
"I had a dream last night."
She spun the lie as smoothly as possible. "I dreamt about this desperate engineer named Fletcher. He said his AI company was flat broke and about to be liquidated, but he swore his underlying tech was revolutionary. He was begging for a lifeline."
God, the excuse sounded incredibly pathetic even to her own ears.
Lucian held her gaze in absolute silence.
She braced herself for an immediate rejection, already scrambling to concoct a better lie. Instead, a slow, devastatingly handsome smile broke across his face.
"Alright."
"Alright?" She nearly choked. "You don't think I've completely lost my mind?"
"You're pregnant. The hormones cause vivid dreams," he said rationally, reaching over to gently pinch her cheek. "Besides, you've never wasted my time with nonsense before. If you want me to audit Paradox, I'll audit Paradox."
He hadn't forgotten the monumental land acquisition deal. It was her wild 'intuition' that had secured that plot, a move that was currently raking in millions in pure profit.
Like the old saying went: A smart man bets on his wife's instincts.
Her jaw practically hit the floor.
She hadn't expected him to capitulate that effortlessly.
