My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 302

"Getting in the way?" Eleanor bristled, clearly unhappy with the suggestion. "I'm not going there to start a fight. I'm going to see my great-grandson! If you're too busy to come, then don't. I'll go by myself!"

Charlene choked on her words, struggling to maintain her carefully crafted expression.

Just then, Lawrence walked into the room, holding his phone. His expression was complicated. Evidently, he had just received the news as well.

"Mom," Lawrence approached, his tone soothing. "Don't get too worked up. I'll take you. But you have to promise me that we won't stay long. Lucian and Seraphina need their rest."

Eleanor shot him a look and let out a huff. "Now that sounds reasonable. Go get changed. We leave in ten minutes!"

Lawrence nodded and turned toward his bedroom.

Charlene followed closely behind him. The moment the bedroom door clicked shut, her face darkened completely.

"So she had a kid. Does the old lady really need to act this hysterical?" Charlene hissed, her voice dripping with resentment. "It's like no one else has ever given birth to a son before."

Lawrence glanced back at her, his gaze chillingly indifferent. "Keep your voice down."

"I..." Charlene started to argue but ultimately swallowed her words.

She knew Lawrence had been in a foul mood lately. Ever since his recent project failure, his influence within the company had severely diminished. Meanwhile, Lucian had successfully closed several massive deals, riding a wave of undeniable success. Their side of the family had gained absolutely nothing tangible, aside from Eleanor's superficial pleasantries.

Even with Landon back, he was stuck in a stagnant position with zero presence.

That was exactly why Charlene was so desperate to find a wealthy, well-connected heiress for Landon to marry. A powerful alliance was the only way to boost his career.

And now that Seraphina had delivered a son—the eldest grandson of the Langford family—the weight he would carry in the future was unimaginable.
