"Lucian," Seraphina said softly, breaking the silence.
"Hmm?"
"Did you let Grandma Eleanor know?"
Lucian paused, pulling out his phone. He had been so frantic earlier, rushing from the corporate headquarters to the hospital and straight into the delivery room. His nerves had been strung so tight that he hadn't had a single second to notify anyone.
"I'll call her right now," he said.
Before he could even dial, his phone buzzed. The screen displayed an incoming call from the Langford estate.
Lucian arched a brow and answered.
"Lucian!" the elderly woman's voice boomed through the speaker, brimming with energy and excitement. "I heard Seraphina delivered! It's a boy?"
Lucian glanced at Seraphina, a faint smile touching his lips. "You catch on quick, Grandma Eleanor."
"Quick? I was the last to know!" she huffed in clear displeasure. "If Susan hadn't called the estate to share the good news, I'd still be completely in the dark! You little brat, how could you not tell me something this important immediately?"
She had fully intended to be at the hospital for the delivery. Now, the baby was already born, and she was just finding out.
Lucian chuckled helplessly. "Grandma Eleanor, Seraphina gave birth less than an hour ago. I didn't even have the chance to—"
"Alright, alright, skip the excuses," she cut him off, her tone urgent. "I'm on my way! Which hospital are you at?"
"Grandma Eleanor, don't fuss over coming out today. Tomorrow—"
"What do you mean, tomorrow? My great-grandson was just born, and you expect me to wait until tomorrow? Send me the address right this second!" Her voice left no room for argument. "Let me make this perfectly clear, Lucian Langford. If you dare stop me from seeing my great-grandson, you'll never hear the end of it!"
With that, she abruptly hung up.
Lucian stared at his phone, caught between amusement and exasperation.
