Watching Seraphina disappear up the stairs, Sienna shot Zelda a knowing look.

The two women exchanged a quick, secretive glance before looking away.

Seraphina reached the attic. It was cluttered with junk, everything coated in a thick layer of dust.

In the corner, she spotted her mother's favorite jewelry box.

She hurried over and picked it up. Opening the lid, she found it completely empty.

"Mommy, they are the worst! They already stole all the jewelry inside," Little Bean complained on her behalf.

Seraphina gently rubbed her stomach. "...I figured as much."

Having the box itself was enough of a keepsake.

There were also a few of her mother's personal items scattered around the attic, like some of her favorite books.

Seraphina packed everything into a bag, intent on taking it all.

She carried the bag back downstairs, ready to leave immediately.

Suddenly, Samuel called out to her. "Seraphina, we need to talk."

Seraphina frowned. "We have nothing to talk about."

"Now that you've married into the Langford family, about those shares you hold..." Samuel trailed off deliberately.

He believed she was smart enough to make the right decision without him spelling it out.

Seraphina stopped in her tracks and shot him an icy glare.

Under her stare, Samuel suddenly felt a wave of guilt wash over him.

"My shares?" Her voice was quiet, but every word cut like glass. "You want to steal the only thing Grandpa left me, too?"

Samuel scowled, his tone darkening. "What do you mean, 'steal'? I'm thinking of your best interests. You've joined the Langford family now. What will people say if you're still clutching onto The Simmons Group shares? They'll think your loyalties are divided."

Seraphina scoffed. "Save the righteous act. I couldn't care less what people think."
