My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 388

Amidst the absolute shock of the crowd, York secured the project.

York stood up, glancing around the room. "Thank you all for conceding."

A round of applause echoed through the hall.

York's gaze zeroed in on Lucian. "I told you. Today, I was always going to beat you."

With a triumphant smirk, York turned and walked out.

Christian stood frozen in place, his face completely drained of color. "Mr. Langford..."

Lucian's expression remained terrifyingly stoic. "His quote was too precise. He beat us by exactly ten dollars."

"Mr. Langford, this can't be a coincidence," Christian whispered urgently. "Someone leaked our base price."

Lucian gave a sharp nod, his mind racing with clinical precision. "No more than five people knew the absolute floor of our bid. They are all top-level executives."

"Christian, launch an internal audit immediately. Pull the communications and travel logs for all core personnel over the past week."

"Understood," Christian replied.

Lucian stood up and strode out of the hall.

A sudden memory flashed through his mind—Seraphina telling him that York had ambushed her outside Langford Manor. Could this entire setup be a trap designed to frame her?

"Mr. Langford, what's the plan now? Are we heading back to Lyra Bay?" Christian asked, matching his stride.

Lucian headed straight for the parking garage. "No. We're going back to headquarters. Call an emergency meeting with every core member of this project. I want a full debrief."

"Right away."

They were back at The Langford Group headquarters in record time.

Nearly every executive had already heard the catastrophic news. They were in a state of absolute panic.

Lucian's undefeated streak had actually been broken!

The other shareholders instantly murmured in agreement. "Exactly! We're already in this mess. What's the point of hiding things from us?"

Lawrence slapped his hand against the mahogany table, demanding silence.

He looked at his nephew. "Lucian, tell your assistant to speak up."

Christian pressed his lips into a thin line, refusing to utter a word.

"Well? Cat got your tongue?"

Lucian looked at Christian and gave a curt nod. "Say it."

"According to the preliminary audit, during the drafting phase of our bid, only one person... had direct contact with York Zeller. It was Ms. Simmons. The meeting took place the day before yesterday, right outside Langford Manor..."

Christian's voice grew progressively quieter until it was barely a whisper.

Before Lucian could even react, Lawrence shot out of his chair. "Lucian, are you going to sit there and tell me this disaster was orchestrated by your lovely wife?"
