My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 41

Samuel Simmons grew more furious by the second.

He had spent years building the Simmons Group, and just as he was on the verge of expanding it into a massive empire, Seraphina held onto thirty percent of the company's shares.

It was the inheritance Arthur Simmons had left her on his deathbed, meant to be her safety net.

A safety net for what?

Why on earth would a mere girl need a safety net?

If those shares returned to his hands, his control over the board's decisions would be absolute and unshakable.

"Dad, please calm down," Sienna reminded him softly. "Sebastian is here. It wouldn't be good if he heard you."

Sebastian was just outside taking a phone call.

Samuel waved his hand dismissively and stayed silent.

Sienna turned, left the living room, and walked out toward the gardens.

Sebastian stood in front of the flower beds, gripping his phone with a deep frown on his face.

"Sebastian, why are you standing out here? Come inside and sit down," she offered.

Sebastian's expression remained neutral. "Why exactly did your father hit Seraphina?"

Sienna's smile stiffened slightly.

She had fully expected him to ask how she was doing or check on the baby she was carrying, but his very first sentence was still about Seraphina.

"Well... Dad just acted on impulse over the shares. And Seraphina was being... a bit unreasonable with her words," Sienna replied, lowering her eyes and adopting a dejected tone.

Sebastian's frown deepened.

The shares.

Always the shares.

The thirty percent stake Seraphina held was like a prized asset that everyone wanted a piece of.

Samuel wanted to swallow it back up, and Sebastian wanted it for himself, too.

No, he wanted it even more than Samuel did.

"Sebastian," Sienna murmured, tilting her head up with reddened eyes. "Do you... still care about Seraphina?"

Sebastian pulled himself from his thoughts and looked at her.

Biting her lip, Sienna instinctively rested a hand over her slightly rounded belly. "I know you and Seraphina were engaged first. It's my fault... I shouldn't have..."

Sebastian cut her off. "Sienna, that's all in the past. You're the only one by my side now. By the way, The Gilded Heart Gala is this weekend. Let's go together."
