My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 51

By noon the next day, Lucian Langford returned from his business trip.

Seraphina Simmons was reading in the living room; hearing the door open, she glanced up and met his gaze.

Dressed in a dark tailored suit, Lucian looked slightly weary from his travels, yet it did nothing to diminish his aloof, aristocratic aura.

"You're back?" Seraphina set her book aside and stood up.

"Yeah," Lucian replied, swapping his dress shoes for slippers as he walked in, his gaze lingering on her for a few seconds. "Have you eaten?"

"Not yet, I was waiting for you." The moment the words left her mouth, Seraphina realized how intimate they sounded.

She awkwardly averted her eyes.

The corners of Lucian's lips lifted in an imperceptible smile. "I'll go change, then we can have lunch."

By the time he came back down in casual loungewear, Susan had already served the meal on the table.

They sat across from each other, the atmosphere between them much more natural than before.

Even though theirs was a marriage of convenience, they seemed to be slowly adapting to it.

The initial awkwardness had faded, replaced by an increasingly comfortable rhythm.

As they were finishing up, Lucian spoke. "The Gilded Heart Gala is this weekend. We'll attend together. I'll have someone drop off a gown for you later."

Seraphina nodded. "Okay."

It would be her first time attending a public event as Mrs. Langford, and she was determined not to embarrass him.

That afternoon, a high-end luxury boutique delivered the dress.

It was a bespoke champagne-colored gown, elegant and understated, with a subtly relaxed waistline that perfectly concealed her faint baby bump.

It was clearly a custom design.

Seraphina stood before the mirror, studying her reflection.

The fabric was liquid and smooth, making her radiant complexion glow even more brightly.

The neckline plunged into a tasteful V, exuding elegance without being overly revealing.

"Isn't this a bit too much?" she murmured, feeling slightly self-conscious.

"Mommy, you look absolutely gorgeous! You're Mrs. Langford now; dressing like this makes Dad look good, okay?"

Seraphina thought about it and realized Little Bean was right.
