My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 518

A complex glint flashed through Melody's eyes. "In that case, I'll take you up on that offer."

Landon pulled the passenger door open for her, his movements flawlessly gentlemanly.

Melody slid into the seat.

The sleek car pulled away from Langford Manor.

Up on the second floor, Charlene stood half-hidden behind the velvet curtains, watching the taillights fade into the darkness.

Lawrence walked up behind her. "What are you staring at?"

Charlene’s lips curled into a calculating smile. "Just wondering exactly how much our son is hiding from us."

The next morning, the moment Seraphina stepped into The Innovation & Strategy Division, the buzzing office immediately dropped to hushed whispers.

The small groups of employees gathered around water coolers scattered like startled birds the second she walked in.

They scurried back to their desks, burying their heads in their monitors, blatantly ignoring her existence.

A colleague walked past with a mug of coffee and deliberately knocked the bottom of it against the edge of a desk. The dark liquid splashed violently, nearly hitting Seraphina’s shoes.

"Oh, my bad," the man sneered unapologetically. "I was up so late working on the project, my hands are shaking."

Seraphina glanced at the brown puddle on the floor. "It's fine."

The man choked on his next insult, clearly not expecting her to brush it off so easily.

A few cubicles down, someone loudly whispered, "Of course she's fine. She leaves right on the dot every day. Must be nice to get a full eight hours."

"We bust our asses until midnight fixing the mess, and she just strolls in, points out a problem, and goes home. Leaves us to do the heavy lifting."

"Hey, what do you expect? She's got connections. Her bags cost more than my house."

"Keep your voice down, if the boss hears you..."

Despite the warning, not a single voice lowered.

Seraphina heard every word clearly.

She calmly set her bag down, booted up her computer, and opened the work portal.

Seymour Marshall stepped out of his office just in time to witness the scene. His expression was grim.

He had been forced to drag the entire team through overtime last night, and he was seething about it.
