My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 516

Evie tried to stand up.

She swayed violently, her hands slamming onto the edge of the table just to keep herself upright.

Eleanor was the first to notice. "Evie?"

Lucian’s gaze sharpened. "What's wrong?"

Melody reached out to steady her, her voice dripping with concern. "Evie, you look awful. Are you feeling sick again?"

Evie didn't answer right away.

She desperately wanted to shove the phone into her pocket, but her hands felt like lead.

The screen was still brightly lit.

That threatening message felt like it was burned into her retinas; she couldn't shake it.

Seraphina watched her closely. "Do you need me to call the doctor?"

Hearing Seraphina’s voice pushed Evie further into panic.

She couldn't bring herself to look at her.

Lucian frowned deeply. "Evie, answer me."

Evie looked at him, her throat constricting.

She wanted to tell him.

She really did.

He had just given her candy. He still cared about her.

But then she felt Melody’s fingers press lightly into her arm.

Melody’s words from earlier echoed in her mind.

*What if this person is just testing you? What if speaking up ruins everything?*

She shook her head erratically. "I'm fine."

Eleanor wasn't buying it. "You can barely stand, and you say you're fine?"

Evie shoved the phone forcefully into her pocket. "I just... I lost my appetite."

Melody gently urged her back into her chair. "Do you want me to help you upstairs, Evie?"

"No," Evie whispered, staring at the floor.

Seraphina remained silent, her gaze fixed on Evie’s hands.

They were trembling violently.

Little Bean scoffed in his mind. *Her heart is racing like crazy. She's terrified, not 'fine.'*

Seraphina didn't intervene, just observing.

She knew something was terribly wrong, but what about Lucian?
