Landon's gaze rested on Seraphina and Lucian, a complex light flickering in his eyes.
Melody looked at him, lowering her voice. "You knew Sienna would crash and burn tonight?"
Landon withdrew his gaze. "I just knew she didn't come here simply to attend a gala. I just didn't expect her to be this incredibly stupid."
Melody's brows knitted together. She didn't believe Sienna had the brains to orchestrate so much on her own.
"Are you using everyone as a pawn?"
Landon tilted his head to look at her, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "We've all been on the chessboard for a while now, haven't we?"
Melody didn't reply.
Sienna was foolish; her wickedness was written all over her face, making her incapable of causing any real damage.
But Landon was different. The quieter he was, the harder it was to see through him.
She thought she was in control of everything, but in this moment, she realized Landon was completely beyond her grasp.
This feeling of losing control was sickening.
Not far away, Sienna suddenly started screaming.
Christian and the security team had grabbed her arms.
Sienna struggled wildly, trying to break free. "On what grounds are you detaining me? I want my lawyer! I want to see my dad!"
Seraphina looked at her. "Go ahead and call him."
She paused, a mocking smile touching her lips. "But do you really think a man like Samuel is going to lift a finger to save you?"
Sienna's face paled. "What do you mean by that?"
Suddenly, Seraphina's phone vibrated. She pulled it out, and as she read the message, her gaze darkened.
Lucian asked softly, "What happened?"
"Something happened to Samuel," Seraphina replied evenly, her tone devoid of emotion.
Samuel? Wasn't that her father?
Sienna fought against her restraints with renewed desperation, her voice shrill. "Seraphina, something happened to my dad? Let me go! I need to see my dad!"
"If you don't want to get involved, don't," Lucian told Seraphina gently.
Seraphina looked up. "I couldn't care less if he lives or dies. But it's time to handle a few loose ends."
