Lucian only looked at Seraphina. "Should we head out now?"
Seraphina slipped her phone into her clutch. "Yeah."
Sienna exhaled in relief, but Christian immediately blocked her path again. "Ms. Simmons, you are not permitted to leave alone until the investigation is concluded."
Sienna's eyes went red with desperation. "It's not like I'm trying to run away! I'm going to save my dad!"
Yolanda, who had wheeled Gillian over to a stop nearby, let out a cold laugh. "Are you trying to save him, or are you trying to save yourself? Can you even tell the difference anymore?"
Sienna's eyes brimmed with tears. "Ms. Harrison, my dad is dying. Do you really have to push me to the edge right now?"
Sitting in her wheelchair, Gillian spoke with chilling calm. "Let her go to the hospital. Have your men escort her, and the police can take custody of her there."
Just as a flicker of hope crossed Sienna's face, Gillian added, "If she can actually save a life, I won't stop her from earning some good karma. But if she's using filial piety as a cover to escape, there are cameras all over the hospital entrances too."
Sienna bit her lip, too terrified to utter another word.
Hearing that Samuel was in trouble, Sebastian's brows drew together tightly. "What's happening with the Simmons family now?"
Seraphina shot him a cool glance. "Instead of worrying about the Simmons family, Mr. Sullivan, you should worry about your remaining chances with the Harrison project."
Sebastian's face darkened. "Seraphina, there's no need to be so abrasive with every breath."
Lucian lifted his gaze, sweeping a sharp, predatory look over Sebastian.
Jules tilted his head and let out a laugh. "Mr. Sullivan, I highly recommend you stop talking, or you won't even know what hit you."
Sebastian's expression turned even uglier.
Lucian shifted his attention, raising a hand to signal Christian. "Is the helicopter ready?"
Christian nodded. "The deck is cleared, and the hospital has been notified. We have direct access to the emergency entrance."
On the deck, the fireworks countdown illuminated the sky.
Seraphina glanced at it.
Lucian spoke up. "We're going to miss the fireworks."
Seraphina withdrew her gaze. "It's fine. We'll watch them with Little Bean next time."
Lucian chuckled softly. "If he heard you say that, he'd be smiling in his sleep tonight."
Seraphina looked at him. "He's just a baby. He doesn't dream that much."
Lucian took her hand. "He'd still be thrilled."
That much was true. Little Bean would definitely be overjoyed.
