Footsteps echoed from the hallway.
Sienna walked in, pressing a cotton ball to her arm. Her eyes were red-rimmed, and upon seeing Samuel, she immediately adopted the role of the devoted daughter. "Dad, don't worry. I've already given my blood. The doctors said they'll rush the results. You're going to be perfectly fine."
Samuel's tense expression softened marginally. "My Sienna is the best. All those years doting on you weren't in vain."
Sienna shot a pointed look at Seraphina. "Unlike some people, who can sit around watching the drama while you're fighting for your life."
Seraphina lifted her gaze. "I am indeed watching the drama."
"You actually have the nerve to admit it?"
Seraphina held up her phone, turning the screen toward the room. "The main cast is finally assembled. Why would I leave now?"
A sudden wave of dread crashed over Zelda. "Sienna, why don't you step outside and rest?"
Sienna frowned. "Mom, I'm not tired. I want to stay with Dad."
Zelda stared at the bandage on her daughter's arm. "Just listen to me and wait outside."
Sienna finally sensed something was off. "Mom, what exactly are you trying to say?"
Zelda avoided her gaze. "Nothing."
At the door, a doctor strode in holding a priority lab report.
"Mr. Simmons, the preliminary screening results are back. We need the family to verify some information first."
Samuel asked eagerly, "Is there a match?"
The doctor flipped open the file. "Based on the initial data, one of the donors meets the criteria for further compatibility testing."
Joy lit up Sienna's face. "Dad, heaven is watching over you! You're going to make it!"
Hope flared in Samuel's eyes. "Sienna, my precious daughter."
Seraphina let out a quiet, knowing laugh.
Samuel snapped his head toward her. "What's so funny?"
Unlocking her phone, Seraphina opened a secure file.
"I'm laughing because the person you trusted most in this world is about to hand you the ultimate surprise."
Samuel's knuckles turned white as he gripped the bedsheets.
Zelda lunged forward to snatch the phone, but Lucian's bodyguards instantly raised their arms, blocking her path.
Seraphina watched Zelda's bloodless face. "Why so anxious? I haven't even said anything yet. What exactly are you terrified of?"
