Sienna shook her head frantically. "Dad, no, it's not true! They're framing me!"
Seraphina chimed in effortlessly. "Tonight, she stole another artist's masterpiece, permanently ruined that artist's hand, and deliberately triggered a severe asthma attack in the eldest Ms. Harrison."
Samuel's face drained of color. "Sienna Simmons."
Sienna threw herself at the edge of the bed, sobbing bitterly. "Dad, I didn't! They're all out to get me! You have to believe me!"
Watching her tears, Samuel's resolve wavered.
This was the daughter he had doted on for over two decades. She knew how to act spoiled, how to coax him, and how to call him 'Dad' in that soft, sweet voice. She was infinitely more obedient than Seraphina.
Catching his hesitation, a mocking smile touched Seraphina's lips. "Still buying it?"
Samuel bristled defensively. "No matter what mistakes Sienna made, she's the daughter I raised. She's far better than an ungrateful wretch like you who only knows how to defy me."
Zelda hurriedly added, "Samuel, Sienna loves you more than anyone. The moment she heard you were in trouble, she ran straight to get her blood drawn."
Sienna wept even more pitifully. "Dad, if I'm a match, I swear I'll save you."
Seraphina watched the fluctuating numbers on the heart monitor in silence, offering no further comment.
Lucian tilted his head toward her. "Are you tired?"
"No."
"Do you want something to eat? You barely touched anything tonight."
Seraphina cast a glance at Samuel on the hospital bed. "Eating in this environment seems a bit impolite."
Lucian considered it seriously. "Then we'll wait until he's done throwing a tantrum."
Seraphina's lips curved upward.
Samuel was so furious he nearly passed out. "Lucian, don't push it!"
Lucian lifted his gaze. "Mr. Simmons, I highly recommend you control your temper. After all, the final results aren't even out yet."
Samuel choked on his own rage.
Footsteps echoed from the corridor as the doctor hurried in with a nurse, clutching the expedited lab report.
Samuel forced himself up slightly. "Doctor, how is it?"
The doctor reviewed the file. "We have a preliminary match with one of the donors. We just need to proceed with a more detailed evaluation."
Pure ecstasy washed over Samuel's face. "Thank God!"
But Sienna couldn't muster a smile.
