"Hmph, Seraphina, one day, I'm going to kick you out of the Langford family!" Evie vowed through gritted teeth.
Melody didn't say a word, simply patting Evie's hand and maintaining her facade of deep sympathy.
After a while, it was finally their turn to be seated.
When the food arrived, Evie took one bite, dramatically spat it out, and raised her voice. "I thought this place was supposed to be amazing. It's totally mediocre."
Melody replied, "I think it's alright."
Leaning in, Evie whispered, "I'm just doing it on purpose."
Melody smiled, choosing not to comment further.
Tiffany happened to be returning to her private room from the restroom and witnessed Evie's childish stunt, finding it incredibly classless.
The moment she entered the room, she relayed the entire scene to Seraphina.
"Tell me, how did a prestigious family like the Langfords, with all their history in this city, manage to raise someone like Evie?"
"I mean, your husband turned out perfectly normal."
Seraphina elegantly finished a piece of Honey Mustard Glazed Prawns, dabbed her lips with a napkin, and finally spoke. "Actually, sometimes I kind of envy her."
Tiffany stared at her in utter disbelief, reaching out to feel Seraphina's forehead. "Envy her for what? Being out of her mind?"
Seraphina chuckled at Tiffany's reaction. "Don't be so harsh. She's just incredibly naive and easily brainwashed."
"You know what they say—those who are deeply loved have the luxury of being fearless."
"She was kidnapped and deeply traumatized. Her family felt so guilty that they spoiled her rotten and gave in to her every whim. That's exactly what shaped her into who she is today."
Tiffany grabbed Seraphina's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "You went through so much after your mother passed."
Then, she quickly shifted the mood. "But you're incredibly happy now too! You have a husband who dotes on you and a precious, adorable son."
Seraphina's lips curved into a radiant smile.
She squeezed Tiffany's hand in return. "I am. And I also have you, my absolute best friend."
As she spoke, she glanced at the beautiful bracelet on Tiffany's wrist.
