"But the rescue heroine isn't—"
Before Tiffany could finish her sentence, the reporter impatiently shook her off and sprinted ahead. "Rescue Heroine, hello! I'm a reporter from The Metropolitan Herald. How are you feeling right now?"
Seraphina followed their gaze and saw Melody Monroe being pushed toward them in a wheelchair.
She looked incredibly frail, her leg heavily casted in plaster.
Seeing the swarm of reporters, Melody feigned surprise before offering them a weak, gentle smile. "Hello."
The reporters shoved their cameras right in Melody's pale face. "Ms. Monroe, as the heroine who risked her life to save others and injured her leg in the process, what are your thoughts right now?"
Melody smiled with practiced modesty. "I merely did my best. Honestly, I wasn't thinking about anything else at the time. I just felt that fate brought us together, and I couldn't let anyone get hurt."
"I see. In this day and age, where everyone is so focused on themselves, your selfless spirit is truly rare."
"Ugh..." Evie stood nearby, watching Melody's sickeningly sweet performance. She genuinely felt like she was going to throw up.
"How can she spew such garbage without any shame? Seraphina was the one who actually helped everyone and kept order!" Evie couldn't stop herself from complaining.
"Oh?" Tiffany sneered from beside her. "Weren't you just talking about how amazing your dear Melody was? Now you finally see how disgusting she is?"
Evie bit her lip, a flash of embarrassment crossing her face.
"I didn't know back then..."
Tiffany twisted the knife. "Because you were an idiot."
"I... I was not!" Evie's face burned bright red, her words stumbling over themselves.
Suddenly, she noticed Tiffany moving.
Tiffany marched straight toward Melody and began clapping slowly, loudly.
The crisp sound drew the attention of everyone present. They turned to look at her.
Melody's eyes flickered when she saw Tiffany, but she quickly masked her reaction, returning to her composed facade.
She smiled sweetly at Tiffany. "Ms. Taylor, is there something I can help you with?"
Tiffany let out a cold laugh. She took another step closer, looming over Melody. "I think I should be the one asking you that question."
