Zane shuddered violently and instantly released her wrist.
Damn it, what kind of rotten luck was this?
Didn't that woman promise Lucian wouldn't find out?
She had told him to take his time and have fun.
"Mr... Mr. Langford... I... I was tricked into coming here... I had no idea..."
Lucian didn't stick around to hear his excuses.
He closed the distance in three strides and drove his fist straight into the man's face.
The impact sent Zane flying back into the wall, coughing up blood as he collapsed.
Lucian didn't stop, raining down blow after merciless blow.
"Ah—Mr. Langford, please! Mercy! I swear I won't do it again! Someone put me up to this!"
Beaten to a bloody pulp, Zane wailed and begged for his life.
"Lucian," Seraphina called out softly. "That's enough."
Lucian froze.
He turned to look at her.
Her face was pale, but her eyes remained remarkably composed.
"Don't kill him. It's not worth it, and he's still useful," Seraphina stated.
"Useful?" Lucian furrowed his brows.
"Yes. I'm going to give them a taste of their own medicine," she replied coldly.

Meanwhile, back in the banquet hall, Zelda and Sienna had remained in plain sight to establish an alibi.
A waiter approached Sienna, whispering a few words into her ear.
Sienna's eyes lit up, a triumphant smirk curving her lips.
She followed the waiter out of the hall.
Arriving at the guest room door, Sienna glanced around to ensure the hallway was empty before gently pushing the door open.
