Zane Zacharias reached out and pinched Sienna's chin, forcing her to look up at him.
"You can scream all you want, but it won't change what's going to happen tonight. You paid me millions of dollars to do a job. The target might have changed, but it's still a win for me."
Tears of sheer terror streamed down Sienna's face.
She struggled frantically, her long nails digging into the back of Zane's hand, leaving several bloody scratches.
"Let me go! I'll pay you whatever you want! Ten million! Twenty million! Name your price!"
Zane hissed in pain. Looking down at the bleeding scratches on his hand, his smile vanished, replaced by a dark, predatory scowl.
"You ungrateful little bitch."
He slapped her hard across the face.
Sienna collapsed to the floor, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, her ears ringing loudly.
Zane crouched down and grabbed a handful of her hair. "Mr. Langford made it very clear. If I don't get this done tonight, I'm dead meat in this city. Did you really think I'd cross Lucian Langford for your pocket change?"
Sienna trembled violently.
Lucian Langford?
He knew?
Impossible. She had just seen him mingling at the banquet; how could he have figured it out so fast?
Damn it!
Right now, Sienna could only pray that her mother would notice she was missing.
"Please... I know I messed up... Just let me go. I swear I won't tell a soul, and I'll still give you the money..."
Zane didn't even let her finish.
He reached out and ruthlessly ripped the shoulder strap of her evening gown.
The sound of tearing fabric was deafening in the quiet room.
Sienna squeezed her eyes shut in absolute despair.
She silently begged for her mother to come save her. She begged for Sebastian Sullivan to burst through the door.
The diffuser in the corner continued to emit a heavy, intoxicating scent, masking all sound.
The corridor outside was completely empty.
No one had a clue what was happening behind that tightly shut door.
