My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 602

Following her gaze, Seraphina saw a gaunt, dark-skinned man resting in the bed. His face was a sickly, sallow yellow, and he looked entirely fragile, as though he were hovering at death's door.

She glanced down at his feet, noting the severe swelling and dark, necrotic-looking lesions scattered across his skin.

She frowned as they approached. "Kidney failure?"

"Diabetes, actually."

"And it's incredibly severe," Tiffany added grimly.

As the two women stopped beside his bed, the man seemed to sense their presence. He fluttered his eyes open, looking visibly bewildered by his glamorous visitors.

"Who are you...?"

"We're friends of your daughter," Tiffany lied smoothly, holding up the expensive gift basket she had purchased. "We heard you were in the hospital and wanted to drop by."

The man hesitated. Rather than accepting the gift, he remained completely still, his sharp eyes scrutinizing them from head to toe.

After a long, tense silence, he finally spoke. "You're not her friends."

He let out a harsh rasp. "My daughter couldn't possibly be friends with women like you."

Both Seraphina and Tiffany were impeccably styled, wearing tailored designer clothes that exuded wealth and luxury.

His daughter, on the other hand, wore frayed, hand-me-down clothes just to get by. She operated in a completely different world from these socialites.

"Who are you people? What do you really want?" he demanded, his raspy voice pitching higher in alarm.

Seraphina exchanged a wary look with Tiffany and was just about to explain their true intentions.

Suddenly, frantic footsteps echoed from the corridor, and the young girl from the fire burst into the room.

She was clad in a stained uniform from a local hotpot restaurant. "Dad, I'm so sorry! We were slammed today, and they held me back—"

The words died in her throat the moment she spotted Seraphina and Tiffany standing next to her father's bed.
