"Is Melody seriously that twisted? Stealing an old woman's chance to escape, and then paying off her family to play the victim and the hero?"
The public narrative aggressively flip-flopped overnight, violently tearing Melody apart while absolutely worshiping Seraphina's silent bravery.
It was as though the thousands of brutal trolls had completely forgotten they were the exact same people trying to ruin Seraphina just yesterday.
Across town, Melody was writhing in her VIP hospital bed, the agonizing burns on her legs driving her mad.
She curled herself into a tight, trembling ball, fighting back hot tears of sheer humiliation and rage.
"Hurry up and get the doctor! I need more painkillers!"
She shrieked desperately at the staff.
Her private nurse stood nervously by the door. "Ms. Monroe, I can't administer another dose so soon. It's too dangerous..."
"Get out!" Melody screamed at the top of her lungs.
Right then, steady footsteps approached from the corridor.
The nurse glanced up, her eyes widening as Landon strode into the room. She immediately backed away in sheer intimidation.
Landon walked straight to the bedside, his dark eyes locking onto the frantic socialite from above.
Sensing the heavy gaze, Melody snapped her head up.
Spotting Landon, she froze, a flash of utter confusion completely overtaking her features.
"You..."
"Hurts, doesn't it?" Landon drawled.
Melody glared at him fiercely. "What the hell does it matter to you?"
He reached down, lazily brushing a damp strand of hair from her forehead. "I can help you—"
Before he could even finish the sentence, Melody suddenly seized his hand, dragged it to her mouth, and bit down with feral intensity.
Landon flinched, violently jerking his hand away as his face contorted in shock. "Are you out of your mind?!"
He shoved her back aggressively.
Melody slammed against the headboard, her vision swimming dizzily for a moment.
But the physical blow paled in comparison to the sting of his violent rejection. He hadn't hesitated for a single second to throw her aside.
"You have absolutely no idea what I'm going through! If you just came here to mock my misery, then get the hell out!" she snarled.
