Aside from destroying every troll who harassed Seraphina, The Langford Legal Department slapped Melody with a massive lawsuit as well.
The charge: malicious manipulation of public opinion leading to severe emotional and psychological distress.
The Langford Group officially terminated all affiliations with her and permanently expelled her from The Innovation & Strategy Division.
"Lucian, you're literally pushing me off a cliff just to avenge your wife?!"
Melody gripped her phone so hard the screen almost cracked.
Her eyes were completely bloodshot as she practically hyperventilated, her chest heaving with unrestrained fury.
"Ms. Monroe... are you okay?" her assistant asked timidly.
Melody shrieked at the top of her lungs, "Get the hell out!"
"Your phone... it's ringing."
Melody glanced down. It was Landon.
Taking a violent breath to force herself into a state of relative calm, she answered the call. "Hello?"
"Well, you certainly butchered that one," Landon remarked, his tone dripping with mockery.
Melody's eyes darkened. She ground her teeth together. "So you're just calling to laugh at me?"
"Hey, don't be like that. If I wanted to mock you, I'd have a hundred better ways to do it. Why waste a phone call?"
Melody paused.
Gripping the phone, she calculated her next move.
Landon's mind was a black box; she could never anticipate his angles.
"Speak."
Desperate to maintain some semblance of power, she kept her response clipped.
Landon didn't beat around the bush. "You got kicked out of the Langford Group."
Melody gritted her teeth. "And?"
*Not here to mock me?* Every single word he spoke was rubbing salt directly into her infected wounds.
But there was no way in hell she was tapping out like this!
