The others had simply been lucky enough to get evacuated alongside them!
Reading the official report, the public's reverence for Seraphina skyrocketed into sheer awe.
"I'm so sorry. I'm absolute trash. I actually jumped on the bandwagon and talked crap about her in real life. Thank God I didn't post anything online, or I'd never be able to live with myself."
"I'm so incredibly sorry. I was wrong. Can she ever forgive us?"
"Hell no!"
"Don't think deleting your comments deletes the damage! If words could physically kill, Seraphina would have been murdered a hundred times over by you freaks!"
"No single snowflake feels responsible in an avalanche. Stop trying to justify your disgusting behavior!"
Seraphina sat cross-legged in bed, scrolling through the gallery of hilarious, groveling screenshots Tiffany had sent her.
Suddenly, her hands felt distinctly empty. A blur crossed her vision, and her phone was gone.
She turned her head. The man beside her was frowning slightly as he placed her phone completely out of reach on the nightstand. "May I ask when Ms. Simmons plans on going to sleep?"
She glanced longingly at the nightstand. "I wasn't done reading."
"It's late. Read them tomorrow."
"I have to work tomorrow."
"Then read them at work."
Seraphina laughed, clicking her tongue as she looked at him. "Are you officially endorsing me slacking off on company time, Boss?"
"I don't mind. Slack off all you want."
"Perfect." She slid down under the covers, and Lucian tucked her in. She shot him a cheeky look. "As long as the guy signing my paychecks doesn't care, I definitely don't."
Seeing her close her eyes, Lucian lay down beside her and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Seraphina and Lucian headed out together.
