Lucian sent another message: "Yes, that works, but no spicy hotpot. Your stomach has been bothering you."
Seraphina read the message, unable to stop the corners of her mouth from turning up.
She replied: "Got it. You're such a nag."
"Sera, what are you doing? It's the middle of the day."
Gabe had just poked his head over when Seraphina swatted him away without even looking up. "Nothing. Go back to work."
Seraphina stood up and went to the break room to grab a coffee.
Gabe rubbed his head and muttered, "Does she have eyes on the back of her head?"
"I think you're the one without eyes," Winona said, rolling her eyes at him. "Her face is completely red. She was definitely exchanging sweet nothings with Lucian. And you had to go and ruin the mood."
"Questions, questions, you're always full of questions, you problem child."
Gabe received another swat for no reason. He rubbed the spot and mumbled, "Wait, is that how you use 'problem child'?"
Winona rubbed her temples. "Hopeless."
Meanwhile, York Zeller was sitting in his office, reviewing documents.
A knock interrupted him. "Mr. Zeller, Mr. Langford and Ms. Monroe are here."
York looked up. "Come in."
Landon walked in first.
Melody, sitting in a wheelchair pushed by an assistant, followed closely behind him.
"Ms. Monroe, I've heard so much about you," York said, walking over to extend a hand.
Melody gave a slight nod. "Hello, Mr. Zeller."
Ever since Landon had proposed partnering with York, she had looked into his background.
The man was powerful, and more importantly, he had a vendetta against Lucian.
The enemy of an enemy is a friend.
"Lucian has already started pouring massive resources into the project," Landon said, gesturing toward Melody. "Previously, I managed to get Melody into the Langford Group's Innovation & Strategy Division."
