Landon stayed quiet, a smug smirk playing on his lips.
At the same time, Melody was making her own moves.
She began spreading rumors within the tech circles, claiming that the Langford Group's project had fatal technical flaws and that key insiders were already jumping ship.
The moment the news broke, the companies partnered with the Langford Group couldn't help but panic.
Even the company's stock price took a slight hit.
"Mr. Langford," Christian knocked and entered the office.
Lucian and Seraphina were right in the middle of eating lunch.
Christian took a step back. "I'll wait until you're finished..."
Seraphina grabbed a napkin and wiped her mouth. "It's fine, go ahead. I'm already full."
Lucian caught her hand as she tried to stand up, then turned to Christian. "It's fine. Speak."
Christian gave a slight nod. "York Zeller has made his move. Aside from locking down the suppliers with exclusive contracts to sever our supply chain, there's also..."
"Also what?" Lucian looked at him.
Christian continued, "Melody Monroe has started working with them. She's also spreading rumors throughout the renewable energy tech circles, claiming our R&D is failing and that people are abandoning ship."
Seraphina found it hilarious. She had been about to leave, but now she sat back down. "The only one who abandoned ship was her, wasn't it?"
"Did she really jump ship?"
Christian's mouth twitched uncontrollably.
Seraphina popped a grape into her mouth.
It was incredibly sweet, carrying a rich floral note and bursting with juice.
Suddenly, a large hand reached over.
Before Seraphina could react, the grape she had just picked up was snatched from her fingers.
With lightning speed, Lucian tossed it into his own mouth. "Not bad. Very sweet."
Seraphina looked up and glared at him.
Lucian smirked, meeting her gaze. "What?"
"That was the last one," she pouted.
