The officer's face darkened instantly.
"Ma'am, you are obstructing justice and attempting to bribe a police officer. Step aside and stop interfering with our duties."
Zelda's composure completely crumbled.
She watched helplessly as the police escorted Sienna and Zane away, utterly powerless to stop them.
The crowd gradually dispersed.
Soon, Zelda was the only one left standing in the corridor.
She leaned heavily against the wall, her legs giving out as if all the energy had been drained from her body.
How did this happen?
The plan was flawless.
The room scent, the waiter, the suite, Zane Zacharias—everything had been perfectly arranged.
So why was Sienna the one who got caught?
Where did it all go wrong?
It was supposed to be Seraphina in that room. How did her own daughter end up taking her place?
Where was that bitch Seraphina?
Where did she disappear to?
Regret gnawed at Zelda's insides.
She had shot herself in the foot.
"Seraphina..." Zelda muttered the name, her eyes burning with pure hatred.
It had to be her.
That little tramp must have orchestrated this.
Seeing Sienna being taken away, Zelda rushed after her, dialing a number on her phone to call for backup as she hurried along.
...
Seeing that the show had concluded nicely.
Lucian escorted Seraphina away.
Once they were settled in the car, he looked over with concern. "Are you hurt? Do you want me to take you to the hospital to get checked out?"
He was still feeling the lingering chill of fear. If he had been a single second later, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Seraphina paused.
This man was afraid.
