When they had first heard the news, they found it completely unbelievable.
Jules sat across from them next to a young woman in a bold red dress, her flawless makeup indicating she had spent hours preparing.
"Sera, let me introduce you," Jules said. "This is my girlfriend, Lydia Vance."
Lydia smiled and nodded. "It's so nice to meet you."
Seraphina replied politely, "Nice to meet you too."
Once the meal began, the atmosphere remained relatively pleasant.
The men discussed business while Seraphina ate quietly, barely interjecting.
She wasn't particularly chatty with people she barely knew.
Lydia, however, was incredibly talkative, constantly trying to strike up a conversation.
"So, how many months along are you?" Lydia asked.
"Four."
"You barely have a bump at all! You have such a gorgeous figure," Lydia praised with a bright smile.
Seraphina offered a polite smile. "Thank you."
Leaning in closer, Lydia asked conspiratorially, "So, how did you and Lucian meet? I heard it was a whirlwind marriage."
Seraphina paused for a second before giving a vague response. "When the timing is right, it just happens."
She wasn't fond of people prying so aggressively into her private life.
Lydia looked like she wanted to probe further, but Jules gave her a subtle tug and shot her a warning look.
She immediately snapped her mouth shut, dropping the interrogation.
Seraphina caught the exchange but chose to ignore it.
Halfway through the dinner, the private room door swung open.
A man in his late twenties strolled in, wearing a sharp white suit and gold-rimmed glasses that gave him a refined, scholarly look.
"Well, well, the whole gang's here," he said with a smooth smile.
Jules stood up to greet him. "Cedric, you made it. Take a seat."
