Seraphina set her files down and leaned back in her chair, looking at Sienna as if she were a complete idiot.
"Sienna, are you confused? This is a publicly traded corporation, not your personal piggy bank. With thirty percent equity, I have every legal right to participate in its management."
Sienna let out a cold laugh. "So what? My dad holds forty-two percent, and my mom holds eight. That's fifty percent. What exactly can one person like you achieve against that?"
Seraphina's lips curled up slightly. "Is that right? Has it ever crossed your mind how exactly he managed to get that forty-two percent?"
Sienna's expression faltered. "What do you mean?"
Seraphina stood up and walked over to the window, turning her back to her half-sister.
"When your mother married into this family, the corporate structure looked very different. A significant portion of Samuel's current shares actually belonged to my mother. After she passed away, those shares mysteriously found their way into his name."
Sienna shot out of her chair. "You're lying!"
"An audit will reveal whether I'm lying or not," Seraphina said, turning to face her.
"You'd better run back and tell your parents to brace themselves. What they stole will eventually have to be returned."
Trembling with fury, Sienna couldn't find a single word to argue back. She spun on her heel and stormed out.
Little Bean bubbled with indignation. *Despicable! That awful woman is trying to bully you again!*
Seraphina touched her stomach, mentally soothing him. *Don't be angry. She's completely powerless.*
To her, Sienna was nothing more than a brainless pawn.
All these years, Zelda had been the one pulling the strings and plotting on her daughter's behalf.
But Seraphina knew the real war was only just beginning.
...
That afternoon, Lucian called her.
"I have a dinner engagement tonight. You're coming with me."
She blinked in surprise. "What kind of dinner?"
"Just a casual get-together with some friends. Jules will be there," he explained. "If you don't feel up to it, you can sit it out."
She considered it for a moment. "I'll go."
She couldn't hide away forever; it was time to step out and socialize a bit.
