Returning from her miserable dinner, Sienna trudged into her living room.
Zelda was lounging on the couch with a sheet mask over her face. Seeing her daughter's foul expression, she sat up. "What's wrong? Weren't you out on a date with Sebastian?"
She had been practically skipping out the door in full glam earlier.
"Mom, I am so furious I could scream." Sienna flopped onto the sofa and furiously recounted everything she had witnessed in the restaurant hallway.
Zelda frowned behind her mask. "Are you saying Sebastian is still hung up on Seraphina?"
"Definitely!" Sienna snarled. "Mom, if you had seen the way he looked at her, you would know he isn't over that bitch! And during dinner, he was completely spaced out. He practically ignored me the whole time."
Zelda fell silent for a moment before patting her daughter's hand. "Sienna, pull yourself together."
"How am I supposed to stay calm?" Sienna's voice climbed an octave.
"I'm carrying his child, and he's turning into a block of ice! What if he regrets choosing me? What if he thinks she's better than me?"
"Don't be ridiculous," Zelda scolded, her voice dropping sternly. "What is she compared to you? She isn't fit to shine your shoes."
"But Sebastian..."
"Men are all the same. The thrill is in the chase. If he's obsessing over her now, it's not because she's somehow superior; it's just because he couldn't keep her."
"Think about it. When she was completely devoted to him, he threw her out like yesterday's trash because she bored him to tears. Now that she's married to someone powerful and thriving, his ego is bruised."
Zelda finished her analysis, a ruthless, calculating glint in her eye.
Sienna bit her lip anxiously. "So what do we do? Just let him pine over her forever?"
"Of course not," Zelda scoffed. "Your only priority right now is locking down the title of Mrs. Sullivan. Once that baby is born and the Sullivan family officially recognizes their heir, you'll be untouchable."
"But what about the patents..." Sienna worried, gnawing on her manicured nails. "If she refuses to renew the contract, the company will take a massive hit, and Sebastian is just going to keep chasing after her."
