My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 96

"You... Sebastian went on a business trip, and I was worried about him. He never takes care of himself when he gets busy, so I need to be here to look after him. You were with him for so many years, you must know how he gets, right?"

The words were delivered like a velvet-wrapped needle, designed to sting.

Seraphina understood exactly what she was doing.

Sienna was provoking her, trying to remind her of her place.

So what if you were with him all those years? I'm the one standing by his side now. I'm the one taking care of him.

Seraphina let out a faint chuckle. "Oh, please. If you like playing with secondhand leftovers, be my guest."

Honestly, she felt nothing but relief that she had caught him cheating before they actually tied the knot.

"Is that so?" Sienna tilted her head, her gaze sweeping over Seraphina critically. "So I assume you didn't come all the way to this summit just for Sebastian, then?"

"That is the funniest joke I've heard in my entire life," Seraphina scoffed coldly. "Relax, Sienna. You might treat Sebastian like a prize, but to me, he's not even worth the dirt on my shoes."

Sienna choked on her words, her smile faltering for a fraction of a second before she forced it back into place. "Good."

Suddenly, the heavy glass doors of the lobby swung open, followed by the sound of approaching footsteps.

Sienna's gaze shot past Seraphina's shoulder. The corners of her lips twitched upward into a soft, pitiful expression. "Sebastian, you're back."

"Why are you standing in the lobby?" Sebastian walked up to Sienna, his tone flat and unreadable.

Acting as if her savior had just arrived, Sienna's voice dropped into a sugary, fragile register. "I was waiting for Caleb to bring the room keys, and I ran into Seraphina... She doesn't seem very happy to see me."

As she spoke, her eyes brimmed with unshed tears, making her look like a bullied little rabbit.

Seraphina finally turned around.

Her gaze skimmed past Sienna's pathetic routine and landed squarely on Sebastian.

"Mr. Sullivan," Seraphina spoke first, her voice icy and detached. "Keep your people in check. And tell her to stop calling me 'sister.' I don't have a sister."
