Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 297

When Stephanie rushed to the restaurant, it had already closed for the night.

She entered through the back door as Tobias had instructed.

The place, usually bustling with a queue of diners, was now quiet. All the employees had left, and only a single light was on in the office.

On the sofa, Cecilia was sprawled out in a very unladylike posture, with one foot on the floor and the other propped up on the backrest. Stephanie couldn't help but facepalm.

A man’s jacket was draped over Cecilia, likely put there by Tobias to keep her warm, but it had now fallen to the floor due to her bizarre sleeping position.

That girl. She could sleep however she wanted in the privacy of her own home, but this was a public place, and with Tobias around, her posture was just too indecent.

Stephanie hurried in and adjusted her legs, glancing over to see Tobias dozing in a chair. He hadn't seen, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

She felt bad for him; he had probably never had to suffer the indignity of napping in a chair in his entire life.

Stephanie tried calling Cecilia’s name a couple of times. She didn’t wake Cecilia, but she did startle Tobias.

He instinctively glanced behind Stephanie, his face drowsy. “Stephanie, didn’t Jonathan come with you?”

Stephanie’s expression was flat. “He’s working late.”

Tobias didn’t notice anything amiss with Stephanie and said with admiration, “Jonathan is such a workaholic. No wonder everyone at Ironhold Investment Group respects him so much since he took over. I’m not impressed by much, but I’m impressed by him.”

Stephanie said, “Thanks for today. I’ll take Cecilia with me now.”

With that, she tried to help Cecilia up.

A drunk person is incredibly heavy. Stephanie stumbled, nearly falling over with Cecilia. Luckily, Tobias, who was beside them, quickly reached out to support Cecilia.
