Nine Hot Therians and Their Only One Queen novel Chapter 445

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 445: The Only Way to Save Him**

He would rather embrace death than betray Emma.

“All we can do now is remain by his side,” Amara said, her voice trembling as she grasped Emma’s hand with a desperate intensity. The urgency in her gaze was unmistakable, a silent plea that cut through the tension hanging thick in the air. “Emma, I know you’ve heard about the primary mate issue. Lucien is at fault, and I accept my share of the blame as his mother for not guiding him better. I’m not asking you to forgive him, but I implore you to stay with him for just a little while… for the bond you two share as mates.”

The thought that these could be Lucien’s last moments sent a sharp pang through Amara’s heart. Deep down, she recognized that her son would want Emma by his side as he faced the inevitable.

“Mom, I was at fault too,” Emma replied softly, her eyes drifting toward Lucien, who lay still on the bed, a mere shadow of the vibrant man she had once loved so fiercely. “I neglected his feelings. But I will stay with him. I promise I won’t let anything happen to him. Please… let me take him home.”

“You want to take him back?” Amara’s voice wavered, her reluctance evident as she glanced at her son. After a moment of contemplation, she nodded slowly. “All right. I believe Lucien would want that too.”

In their world, when a male found his huntress, he would rather face death at her side than anywhere else.

Despite Emma’s reassurance, Amara harbored doubts; she feared it was merely a way to comfort her in this harrowing moment. After all, aside from the arduous journey up Beast God Mountain or the use of human blood, there seemed to be no other way to save Lucien.

“Thank you, Mom,” Emma whispered, her voice barely above a breath, the weight of her decision settling heavily upon her.

With Amara’s hesitant consent, Emma wasted no time, swiftly instructing Silas and Marcus to prepare Lucien for transport back to the manor. It would be far more feasible to conduct a blood transfusion there than in the sterile confines of Aurelia.

Silas and Marcus carefully lifted Lucien onto the warship, their expressions somber as they maneuvered him into place. Once they were airborne, Silas closed the door to the rest cabin, turning to face Emma, his emotions swirling within him like a tempest. “Emy, have you truly made up your mind?” he asked, his voice thick with concern.

Emma met his gaze with unwavering determination. “Yeah.”

Marcus, standing a few paces away, felt utterly bewildered. What decision had Ms. Tibarn made?

Silas understood that regardless of who lay in that bed, Emma would have made the same choice—there was no stopping her resolve. All he could do was alert the crew to prepare a recovery pod for their arrival at the manor.

By the time they reached their destination, the recovery pod was already in place, waiting with an ominous stillness that sent shivers down Emma’s spine.

“What’s the pod for?” Marcus asked, confusion clouding his features. “She’s not planning to drag Dahlia here and use her blood for Lucien’s transfusion, is she?”

Lucien would never consent to such a thing, and Marcus couldn’t shake the feeling that this was about something much more profound than a simple transfusion.
