Nine Hot Therians and Their Only One Queen novel Chapter 480

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**

**Chapter 480: She Wouldn’t Have To Suffer**

Emma stood there, her expression a mixture of uncertainty and determination. The weight of her decision hung in the air, palpable and heavy.

She gazed at Lucien, her heart racing as she gently bit her lower lip, a nervous habit she had developed over the years. “But Lucien,” she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper, “I’ve already decided to keep him.”

Lucien’s eyes widened in disbelief, his mouth slightly agape as he processed her words. “Emma, don’t you dislike babies?” he asked, his voice tinged with confusion.

“No, I don’t,” Emma clarified, her tone firm yet soft. “It’s just that in the past, I never really wanted one. I thought that once a baby came into my life, I would be tied down, forced to cater to its every whim, every cry. The thought of a house filled with tiny voices, all clamoring for attention, made my head spin.”

As she spoke, her thoughts drifted to Remy, and her voice softened, warmth flooding her heart. “But since Remy arrived, Silas has taken on most of the responsibilities. My life hasn’t changed as drastically as I feared. That’s why I’m not against having a baby anymore.”

She locked eyes with Lucien, her expression earnest. “He’s our child. I can’t just dismiss him like he’s nothing.”

Lucien’s anxiety was palpable as he absorbed her declaration. “But Emma,” he said, his voice laced with concern, “you’re feeling so sick right now. If you choose to have this baby, you’ll endure so much pain.”

Emma, sensing his worry, understood the depths of his feelings. “You’re worried because of my nausea, aren’t you?” she asked, her gaze piercing through his facade.

“It’s not…” Lucien began, but Emma’s knowing smile told him she could see right through him.

“Stop trying to deny it,” she teased gently, reaching out to pinch his cheek playfully. “If that’s all that’s bothering you, you really don’t need to fret. Alaric has a method to transfer my pregnancy symptoms to the baby’s father instead.”

“Really?” Lucien’s skepticism was evident. “Emma, you’re not pulling my leg, are you?”

“Why would I ever joke about something so serious?” Emma replied, her voice steady. She valued her health too much to make light of such matters.

“If you’re still doubtful, ask Marcus. He heard it too. And if you need further proof, we can call Alaric right now.”

As if summoned by her words, Marcus nodded vigorously, eager to support Emma. “Emma is absolutely right. Alaric did say it was possible. But he also warned that once the symptoms are transferred, the father might feel the discomfort even more intensely.”

He added that last part with a smirk, knowing it wasn’t entirely accurate, but enjoying the moment nonetheless.

“Really?” Lucien’s grip on Emma’s hands tightened, his excitement bubbling to the surface. “If it means you won’t suffer, I’ll endure anything.”

Even if the pain multiplied tenfold, he wouldn’t flinch.

As long as Emma’s well-being was guaranteed, Lucien was willing to bear any burden.

Alaric deftly retrieved a peculiar silver device from his storage band. It was adorned with rare energy crystals and intricate runes that seemed to pulse with energy.

“Prince Lucien, I will need a drop of your blood,” he instructed, placing the device and a small bloodletting needle before Lucien.

Lucien’s brow furrowed. “Do you need Emma’s blood too?”

Alaric shook his head, his expression serious. “Just a single strand of hair from her will suffice.”

Understanding the process, Lucien swiftly pricked his finger, allowing two drops of blood to fall onto the device.

Emma, following Alaric’s guidance, carefully plucked a single hair from her head.

As she watched the device in Alaric’s hands, a wave of nostalgia washed over her. It reminded her of the mirror Kieran had given her, the one that had confirmed the baby’s father.

In that moment, she felt a strange mix of hope and trepidation, standing on the precipice of a life she had once feared but now yearned to embrace.
