Chapter 522 Her Concerned Care
Edric was not scared at all. He just felt a bit of secondhand embarrassment for Silas.
With so many links sitting there, Emma probably has no idea what to think. Silas looks this stressed, and it is most likely because of
that.
“Do you want me to talk to Emma for you?” Edric hesitated for a moment, then asked.
Silas shook his head. “I appreciate it, but this is something I should explain myself.”
I am honestly scared she might think I am some kind of creep and end up hating me for it. It is not that I do not trust how she feels about me. It is just that this whole thing is unbelievably awkward.
Edric saw the troubled look on Silas‘ expression, the kind that came from too many thoughts weighing on his mind. He chose not to say anything more and quietly left the room.
Silas had always been the kind of therian who seemed to have everything figured out, like he could predict every move before it even happened. Nobody would’ve thought that when it came to feelings, he could actually get scared, too.
By the usual rotation, today should have been Silas‘ turn to spend time with Emma. But Malrik had arrived, so Silas gave up his daytime slot.
It was not that he handed it directly to Malrik. Whoever managed to claim the chance would be the one who stayed with Emma.
At lunchtime, Silas did not come out of his room.
When Emma finally sat at the dining table, she glanced at the empty seat beside her, puzzled. “Why didn’t Silas come out to eat?”
“I went to get him,” Marcus replied. “He said he wasn’t hungry. He’s skipping lunch.”
How can he just skip a meal?
Emma took a clean bowl that had not been used, served herself a plate of pasta, added some side dishes, and set it aside. “Let’s eat first. I’ll bring this to him later.”
Everyone nodded and started eating.
Alaric looked at Emma, then lowered his gaze with a quiet smile.
She really pays attention to everyone’s feelings. She doesn’t make everyone wait for Silas, and she doesn’t force him to eat with them. She just wants to finish her own meal quickly so she can check on him.
Emma ate a lot faster than usual today. She was full. She finished her meal, and the food she’d set out for Silas was still warm.
She picked up her bowl and told everyone to keep eating. Then, she got up and went to find Silas.
Silas sat in his room, feeling frustrated, wondering how he would even explain this to Emma.

Sharing this kind of thing with the males at home, teaching them how to compete for favor. No male in the world would ever do that. Every male wants the huntress‘ attention for himself. If he has even a little trick, he keeps it to himself.
He would never share it, but I do. Not that I’m a saint. I just worry that Corvin and the others don’t know enough and might make Emma uncomfortable. And sure, doing this privately, just between us, is one thing. But now Emy has found out…
Just thinking about it was enough to make Silas feel like he was falling apart.
Knock, knock, knock.
Emma stood outside his bedroom door with a bowl in her hands and knocked. “Silas, can I come in?” Her voice came through the door.
Silas stiffened. Why is Emy here?
He shut down the lightcore right away and got to his feet to answer the door. When he reached it, he took a slow breath, lifted his hand, and pulled it open. Emma was standing there, holding a tray of food.
He did his best to keep his voice calm and gentle, just like usual. “Emy, what is this? Did you bring me lunch?”
‘Of course.” Emma walked into Silas‘ room with the food and set it on the table. She turned back to him, concern clear on her expression. “You didn’t go out for lunch earlier. Marcus said you had no appetite. What’s going on? Are you not feeling well?”
The smell of the food filled the room.
Silas looked at the plate piled high with pasta and the carefully prepared dishes, and warmth spread through his chest. mmediately afterward, a more profound sense of embarrassment followed.
He could barely bring himself to meet Emma’s eyes. His gaze stayed on the plate as he spoke quietly. “I’m fine. I just wasn’t really hungry.”
‘Even if you’re not hungry, you should eat a little,” she encouraged. “It’s not good for your body.”
Emma picked up her fork and speared a piece of golden, tempting fried cutlet. She brought it to Silas‘ lips. “Want to try it? The neat turned out really crispy today. It smells amazing.”
Silas‘ eyes lingered on the hand holding the fork. He hesitated for a beat, then opened his mouth and took the bite. The familiar lavor spread across his tongue, but he barely registered it. His thoughts were tangled up in those links and chat logs.
When Emma saw that he had eaten, a soft, pretty smile curved at the corner of her lips.
After Silas finished chewing, Emma fed him another bite. Then, as if it were just an offhand thought, she asked quietly, “What were you doing alone in your room? You seem… kind of down today.”
His fingers curled slightly at her words. He swallowed and forced himself to stay calm, smiling as he explained, “No, I am not in a bad mood. I was just thinking about a few things.”
As he spoke, he reached out and took the fork from her hand. “Emy, you do not need to worry about me. I will finish eating on my
own.”
Watching him eat so earnestly, she leaned a little closer.

A strand of her hair brushed lightly against his arm as she lowered her voice and asked near his ear, “You did not come out to eat because you were thinking about how to explain to me… It’s about the links you sent Corvin and the others in that group, right?”
