Remy’s soft voice reminded him, “You’ll scare her.”

Silas slowly walked back to the bed and looked at Remy, who looked almost like a replica of his own, with a complicated expression. Then, he reached out and caressed Remy’s soft cheeks, the motion betraying a subtle tremor even he didn’t notice.
“She would surely freak out,” Silas said in a low, hoarse voice, carrying unprecedented fatigue. Then, he stared into Remy’s eyes and said slowly, “Not only will she be frightened as she sees you in this state, but you yourself will also frighten her.”
He couldn’t imagine how Emma would feel upon seeing her adorable child transformed into someone who could kill without blinking and considered it perfectly natural. Silas wondered how she would react. Disgust? Fear? Or sheer terror?
“Remy, I don’t hate you for this. No matter what you are, you will always be my child, and I will forever love you. However, I cannot let you carry these memories at such a young age. You cannot control them yet.”
These memories would do little to help Remy–they would only twist his personality.
“I don’t want you to experience what I have gone through. You have a mother who loves you and a strong father. You don’t need to face these storms. You should grow toward the light, freely and fully.”
In the meantime, at the underground auction hall.
Alaric silently moved to squeeze past Malrik, who had been about to sit next to Emma. Shifting slightly, he smoothly claimed the seat beside her. His body leaned close to hers, yet maintaining just the faintest gap.
“Huntress,” Alaric whispered in Emma’s ear like a soft feather brushing her ear. “Let’s see if there is anything that will catch your eyes.” He deliberately let his breath graze her neck as he spoke.
“Pick something you like and tell me. I’ll buy it for you.”
Since he was still not Emma’s partner, he couldn’t give her his own wealth, so he used this method to make her happy.
Emma gave him a sidelong glance and whispered warningly, “Don’t call me that. I’m still not your huntress.”
From the moment he had stepped off the airship, he hadn’t stopped calling her huntress.
Alaric’s smile deepened at her words. He slightly tilted his head as his glimmering eyes fixated on Emma, the amusement in his eyes nearly spilling over.
“Not now, but you will be in the future, right?”
Emma was momentarily speechless, unsure how to answer.
She realized that Alaric was extremely purposeful in everything he did. Every word and every action he took had a clear objective, yet such intentions were detectable and somehow not annoying. That was the most dangerous part.
Seeing Emma remain silent, Alaric kept his smile on. Moreover, there was a hint of affection in it.
He knew he was pressing on her a little too tightly. However, everything needed a little push, even if it needed time.
Then, Alaric subtly shifted back, giving Emma a little space–but only a little. He extended a finger and brushed the back of her hand lightly.

“It’s okay if you don’t answer me now,” he said gently. “No matter how long it takes, I will wait for you until you are ready.”
These words gave Emma a chance to breathe while also being a deeper confession. By saying this, Alaric let her have control but also told her clearly that his goal would only be her.
Lucien cast Alaric a subtle glance and wasn’t surprised since he was as cunning as his own beast form, which was a fox.
Ding!
Suddenly, Alaric’s lightcore rang.
Alaric casually raised his wrist and tapped the screen. He was surprised when he saw a message from Silas.
‘Come over to the location I gave you. Don’t let Emma know about this.‘
The location was on the fifth underground level of the auction hall.
Alaric’s eyes flickered briefly, then he casually turned off the screen. He smoothly retracted his hand as if he had only glanced at the time. Then, he turned to Emma with a smile and said, “Huntress, I’m going to the restroom. I’ll be back shortly.”
After that, he rose gracefully and returned to the seat he had claimed from Malrik.
