A mix of shock and joy flooded Emma’s heart as she looked at him. He was just too adorable to look at, and she felt her heart melting from the cuteness.
“Remy, when did you grow up?” she asked.
“Just now,” Remy answered clearly, nuzzling his head against her neck with trust.
“Mommy, I missed you so much when I was asleep. I dream of you every day. Did you miss me too?” Remy’s face tilted upward, his eyes brimming with hope and admiration as he stared unblinking at Emma.
“Of course, I missed you,” Emma said, her heart softening completely as she held Remy.
Remy was just too adorable, and Emma was still wondering if he was really her child.
His arms and legs are so chubby that I wanted to squish them! His eyes are crystal clear, and he looks at me with adoration. How can he be so cute?! That should be a crime! Moreover, his voice is as sweet as honey, Emma thought.
This was her child, connected to her by blood.
Alaric watched as Emma held Remy, her expression full of joy. Quietly, he asked Silas, who stood nearby with a complicated expression, “What do we do now? Emma is here. Are you still going to erase Remy’s inherited memories?”
He felt that Emma might not agree to Silas‘ decision since she loved Remy so much.
Observing Remy’s reaction in front of Emma, Alaric continued thoughtfully, “I think he also knows that his inherited memories are problematic. He is quite the actor in front of Emma. After all, he’s completely different from earlier.”
Alaric guessed Silas wanted to erase Remy’s memories to prevent his abnormal behavior from scaring Emma or causing her to reject the child. However, if Remy could keep up this performance, maybe the memories didn’t need erasing after all. After all, inherited memories were crucial for every child.
Silas didn’t respond. He simply watched Emma and Remy.
Seeing Remy naked, Emma retrieved a soft cloak from her storage and wrapped it around him. Then, she looked at Silas and walked toward him while holding Remy.
“Why didn’t you tell me that Remy is awake? Why did you call Alaric instead?” She frowned.
If she hadn’t glimpsed Silas‘ name on Alaric’s lightcore, she wouldn’t have known that Remy had awakened.
After speaking, she glanced down at the obedient, adorable Remy in her arms, worry flickering across her mind. She wondered if there was something wrong with Remy’s body, which was why Silas secretly summoned Alaric.
Silas looked at Remy with a complicated expression before explaining to Emma, “I’m sorry, Emma. Remy just woke up, and there is something wrong with him. I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I just didn’t want you to worry. I was going to tell you after I fixed this problem.”

Hearing that there was indeed something wrong with Remy, Emma immediately looked down at Remy.
“What is wrong with Remy?” she asked hastily.

Before Silas could answer, Remy himself spoke up. “Mommy, it’s my inherited memories. I inherited Daddy’s memories, and he was afraid that those memories would mess me up since they were too dark.” Then, he pointed at Alaric and continued, “That’s why he wanted this fox to erase my inherited memories.”
Therian children automatically awaken inherited memories when they transform into human form. Thus, even at the age of three years old, they understand many things.
“What kind of memories could mess with Remy’s personality?” Emma asked Silas.
“It’s the memories from when Daddy first entered the Command Department.” Remy immediately answered on behalf of Silas. even his baby–like voice carried deep concern.
“Mommy, Daddy suffered so much at that time. He was a sunny person, yet he spent every day in darkness, surrounded by plots and schemes…”
Hearing this, Emma immediately understood.
“How can this be…” Emma’s heart ached as she looked at Remy. It felt as if an invisible stone had crushed her heart so hard that she could hardly breathe.
As she glanced at Silas and Remy, a huge pang of anguish rose in her chest.
Why did this happen? Emma’s heart ached for Silas‘ past hardships, but now, she felt even more for Remy.
After all, Remy had just transformed into a human. He was still a baby who should be held in her arms and nurtured with gentle words. Yet, he was forced to endure darkness and pain that were never meant for him.
The cruelty of it was almost unbearable.
