That look knocked the breath right out of Emma’s chest. A man who always looked fierce suddenly giving her sad puppy eyes–she sure as hell couldn’t withstand that!

“I’m not mad at you.” She couldn’t resist reaching up to pinch his cold, handsome cheek. “And you didn’t even know it was alcohol. You really can’t be blamed for this.”

“But I was drunk and disturbed your rest,” Calum said, guilty.

“No, you didn’t.” Emma shook her head. “You actually handle alcohol pretty well. You just fell asleep. You didn’t make a scene.”

Calum didn’t know what “making a scene” meant. To him, sleeping in Marcus‘ arms sounded plenty messy already.

Seeing him standing there blankly, Emma took his hand and guided him to the couch. Then she picked up the warm water Malrik had prepared for her and handed it to Calum.

He really had been terrified she would be angry.

Emma kissed him back. “Relax. I wouldn’t get mad over something like this.”

Unless he got drunk and did something truly outrageous.

Calum pulled Emma onto his lap. With his size, she was completely enveloped in his arms. He kissed her again, then finally said why he’d come. “I heard you’re going to NexusPrime Tech today with that human female, Dahlia?”

“Yeah, we arranged it yesterday.” Emma leaned against him, her gaze drifting across his carefully chosen clothes. “Why are you asking? You want to go with me?”

He had clearly dressed up for this.

Calum nodded, looking at her with open expectation. “Can I?”

“As long as it doesn’t interfere with your work,” Ernma said.

“It won’t.” Calum brightened instantly. “I sorted everything out yesterday. I can spend the whole day with you.”

Getting to go out with Emma was a rare luxury for him.

They chatted for a while before checking the time and heading downstairs together.
