Chapter 585 Failed Temptation
:
Seeing her mate suddenly thrown out the window made Lily livid. That was her mate–tossing him out like trash was no different from slapping her across the face.
But she was just about to explode when Dahlia gently tapped her arm, leaned close, and whispered, “Don’t forget our plan. One useless mate in exchange for Lucien… think about which one is worth more.”
Lily instinctively glanced Lucien’s way at the mention of his name. If Lucien were hers, he could have bought out the entire hall without blinking.
Afraid Lily might stay unhappy and start trouble for Emma, ruining her plan, Dahlia coaxed softly, “Go pick something else you like. I’ll buy it for you, alright?”
That was all Lily needed to hear–her anger vanished instantly. “You’re the best, Dahlia. I’ll go choose something then.”
With that, she dragged her remaining mates away to shop for herself.
Idiot, Dahlia cursed silently before walking over to Emma. She put on an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry you had to witness that. I really didn’t expect Lily’s mate to be that jealous.
“Fortunately, Lily is reasonable enough to know the problem was on his side. Emma, please don’t punish your mates over this. They only had your best interest at heart.”
Emma had never once considered punishing Edric or Kieran. “I’m not angry, and I won’t punish my mates. Don’t worry.”
Sure–they hadn’t gotten anything for her as gifts earlier, but they always stocked their storage warehouse for her. Whatever she needed, she could retrieve herself. Ever since bonding with Edric and the others, Emma had never lacked for anything material. To them, anything that could be bought wasn’t considered a real gift. Only things they crafted themselves counted.
After more than an hour of browsing, Emma began to feel tired. Damian arranged a lounge for them. While everyone headed over, Dahlia used the moment to have Kael create an opportunity–allowing her to meet Damian alone.
“Mr. Voss,” Dahlia called out, impeding Damian just before he followed Emma to the lounge.
His expression darkened instantly. “What do you want?”
Without Emma present, Dahlia no longer bothered pretending. She smiled gracefully at him. “I want to continue discussing our bonding. I have many technologies that your company.

doesn’t have. If we bond, I can give them all to you. You and Nexus Prime Tech could rise to another level.”
Damian snorted dismissively. “With or without you, NexusPrime Tech will rise just fine.”
Dahlia’s smile froze, turning cold. “Damian, you know you have no better option than me. I can give you technology–and I’m a human female. My blood can help you level up.”
There wasn’t a male alive who could resist the promise of advancing. Dahlia was certain Damian would be no exception. And hoping to stab where it hurt, she continued, “Damian, I know you like Emma. But she’ll never look at you. She already has Lucien and Calum beside her, not to mention Rank 11 Marcus and Malrik–four powerful males.
“You have nothing on them. Forget Lucien–you can’t even compare to Silas. He won’t allow you near Emma. Your level is too low. They all think you’re unworthy of standing at her side.
“Damian, stop deluding yourself into waiting for Emma to accept you again. Come to me instead. I’ll raise your strength. I’ll make you the richest, most powerful male in the Em No one will dare to look down on you again.
“And imagine how satisfying it’ll be when Emma and her mates suffer for once. Aren’t you curious what it feels like to make her cry and beg for you in agony?”
Damian stared at her, certain she had a screw loose. Seeing Emma crying for him wouldn’t make him happy–it would break his heart.
“I told you–you’ve got the wrong male. I don’t like females like you, and I will never bond with you,” he said, turning to leave.
Dahlia’s eyes chilled. She had planned to negotiate nicely, but since he refused to listen, he only had himself to blame for what came next.
She lowered her gaze. Her black irises shifted to a deep green, and a bead of green liquid floated at her fingertips.
Her venom–one drop was enough to erode a male’s mental consciousness, trapping him inside an illusion she controlled completely.
“Damian.”
Suddenly, Emma’s voice rang out. Dahlia jerked her hand back at once. By the time she raised her head, her eyes had already returned to black.
She looked toward Emma, who was walking over with Lucien by her side. Damian, too, looked at Emma with barely contained excitement.
