He already understood what Emma meant by asking him to come upstairs.

She wanted to help in another way. That meant Malrik would have less time with her.

Edric smiled. “Even if you didn’t help me, I wasn’t staying.”

Malrik didn’t let go of Edric’s wrist. He smiled at her instead.

“Ms. Tibarn, you’re back.”

“What are you two doing?”

Emma looked at their joined hands and frowned.

Malrik let go and explained with a soft tone.

“Edric’s not been feeling great. I’m using my ability to help suppress it.”

Emma already knew about Edric’s condition.

She hadn’t known it could be controlled.

Edric nodded. “Yeah, Emma. Malrik helped. I’m feeling a lot better now.”

“Get some rest tonight. I’ll bring the babies over tomorrow.”

Then he turned to Malrik.

“She just gave birth. Take good care of her tonight. Edric and I will head out.”

Emma smiled and pointed at the nest in Lucien’s arms. “Aren’t our little Phoenix babies adorable?”
