Calum gave him a look and warned him, “You’d better not start acting like Marcus. You’re Rank 8. Showing off like that’ll get you flattened.”
Corvin stayed quiet.
Ugh. Calum was so irritating.
Always pointing out the exact kind of truth nobody wanted to admit.
He rolled his eyes and kept watching Marcus and Kael.
Kael’s face had turned completely sour. Marcus had gone totally off script.
They were supposed to be faking this.
But Marcus‘ insults were cutting deep.
Kael raised his arm and pointed at him.
‘What’s your problem?”
His voice grew sharper. “You trying to start something with me?”
Marcus gave him a cold laugh. “You talk like you’re somebody important.” He sneered. “I’m ready to go. Are you?”
‘I’m Rank 11 now too. Why would I back down?”
Kael jabbed a finger at him, boiling with anger.
Marcus looked at that hand and internally rolled his eyes.
le wanted nothing more than to cut it off right then.
Calum nudged Corvin, who was still standing there watching.
Quit staring. It’s your cue.”
Oh–right!”
Corvin nearly forgot. He spun around and ran toward Emma.
Emma! Something happened!”
He called out as he ran across the grass.
Emma stood up the moment she heard him. She looked at him and asked, “Corvin, what’s going on?”
His face was filled with panic.
‘Emma, you’ve gotta come now. Marcus and Kael are about to go at it!”

“What?!”
Emma’s eyes shot open. “Where are they? Take me!”
She turned her head quickly and shouted again.
“Dahlia! Kael’s your mate! Get over here with me!”
Dahlia had already gotten up. She nodded and followed Emma toward the field.
What was Kael doing?
Wasn’t he supposed to keep Emma busy with food?
The picnic had not even started. Why was he already trying to fight one of Emma’s mates?
By the time they arrived, Marcus and Kael were still mid–argument.
“You birdbrain. What’s the point of a fight without a bet?”
Marcus smirked. “Wanna make this interesting?”
‘If I win, your matriarch gets me. If I lose, Lucien goes to yours.”
Lucien froze in place behind him.
He was definitely punching Marcus in the face after this.
Kael glanced at Lucien and scoffed.
‘One Lucien? That’s what you’re offering? Some heir of the Frostveil Wolf Clan. Scared of everything, huh?”
Marcus narrowed his eyes.
‘Then what do you want to bet?”
Kael spoke up. “If we’re doing this, let’s go big. I win, Emma’s entire lineup goes to my matriarch. You win, we all go to yours.”
Marcus nearly burst.
How dare he throw Emma’s name into a deal like that?
Dahlia’s whole squad of rejects was barely worth dragging into a fight, and this guy thought they counted as a prize?
Lily’s eyes lit up the second she heard it. “I love that bet!”
If Kael could beat Marcus, then they would not need to waste time drugging Lucien and the rest later.
She turned toward Dahlia and asked, “What do you think, Dahlia?”
Dahlia smiled, but it looked tight.
“I don’t have a problem with it. But I think Emma has the final say.”

She had ways to help Kael win.
But whether Emma would even say yes was the real question.
Everyone turned to Emma.
She gave a small smile and looked a little hesitant.
“I’m okay with it too. But they’re both Rank 11. If they fight here on Central Planet, the place won’t survive.”
Lily chimed in quickly. “Then let them fight at Pantheon Battlefield. That solves everything.”
Perfect.
The idiot was on the other side.
Emma held back her grin and nodded with a serious look.
“Pantheon Battlefield really is the best choice.”
Lily saw her agree and jumped right in.
“Then what are we still doing here? Let’s go!”
She moved quickly, scared Emma might change her mind.
Dahlia, however, stayed still.
She looked at Emma with suspicion in her eyes.
“Emma, are you really okay betting all your mates on this?”
She could tell how much Emma cared about them. She wasn’t blind.

These weren’t just placeholders. They were bonded males. If they got traded off as a wager, their minds would fall apart. They would not last long.
Was Emma really willing to let Lucien and the rest die?
Emma glanced at Marcus, then turned back to Dahlia with a smile.
“I trust Marcus. That’s why I’m willing to risk it.”
She leaned in a little. “You’re just scared Kael can’t handle it.”
She looked straight at Kael. “He only just reached Rank 11. He’s no match for Marcts.”
Dahlia caught on instantly.
Of course Emma agreed. She was betting on Marcus. And she was right to.
Marcus‘ twisted ability was brutally effective.
Beating him was no easy task.
