Malrik said, “I can’t give them away for free. I’ve got to pay my men for their labor, remember?”

Kieran looked back. “I sense a familiar presence. You stay with Emma. I’ll go check it out.”

“No danger, just a friend,” Kieran replied.

Hearing there was no danger, Lucien relaxed. “Go ahead.”

Corvin hurried over to Emma and opened his lightcore. “Emma, I’m going to take some photos of you. I’m really good at taking pictures.”

“Okay!”

She happily struck a pose, letting him take the photos. He adjusted the angle on his lightcore and started snapping pictures, completely focused.

He wanted to take as many photos of her as possible, so that whenever he missed her, he could look at them.
