Chapter 665 Messages
They weren’t from Beast God Mountain, so they didn’t know anything about Gaellard.
If Silas hadn’t sent the alert, Malrik would never have guessed Gaellard’s true background.
Kieran glanced at Emma, who was playing in the water with Corvin and Edric.
He addressed Malrik and Marcus.
“You both know that every Beast God, before disappearing, picks out several candidates for the next Beast God, right?
“Gaellard and I were two of those candidates.”
Besides Silas, who refused, and Alaric, who quit for his own reasons, there were three more therians just like them.
Marcus didn’t even blink at Kieran’s admission.
The Beast God had reached out to him, too.
He’d been so miserable at the time that he had no interest in taking on the Beast God’s burden.
Why sign up for more pain?
That old Beast God wanted free labor–he could keep dreaming.
Malrik’s mind raced as he realized who Kieran really was.
He hadn’t expected Gaellard to come from Beast God Mountain either.
“So, what brought Gaellard to Beast God Mountain?” Malrik asked.
If Gaellard was raised there, he couldn’t possibly be as dangerous as the files claimed.
The Beast God wouldn’t create a monster unless he’d lost it completely.
Kieran looked at Emma again, his tone turning glacial.
“He’s here for Emma.”
“What?” Malrik’s voice shot up, clearly rattled.
Marcus‘ expression hardened as he connected the dots.
“He found out the huntress is human?”
Malrik fixed his gaze on Kieran.
Kieran nodded.
“Not just him. The others know, too.”
If Gaellard was here, every one of them would show up soon.

“The Beast God decided none of us were good enough. He wants new candidates. The next Beast God will be chosen from the cubs of a human female.”
Those guys wanted their cub to be the next Beast God.
That meant they had to mate with Emma.
Kieran thought using Emma like that would only hurt her.
He didn’t want Gaellard or any of the others near her.
Marcus snorted, his voice thick with rage.
“I always knew that old Beast God had terrible taste.
“Every candidate he picked is a disaster.”
The old guy even tried to pick Marcus when Marcus wanted out of life completely.
What kind of logic was that?
He had to be out of his mind.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning tore down from the sky and struck Marcus directly on the head.
Kieran and Malrik jumped back, not willing to risk the fallout.
Farther away, Emma heard the blast and jerked her head over.
She saw Marcus, hair scorched and white, smoke curling out from his scalp.
He wiped his sooty face and glared at the sky, his hair still frizzing with static.
“You’ve really lost it, haven’t you?
“You actually zapped me?
“Who do you think you are, hitting me like that?
“What, did I offend you?
“You call those candidates? Every last one is after my female. Not a single one is any good!
“You even tried to pick me when I was half gone. Were you blind, or what?”
He got even angrier, spat out another cloud of smoke, and yelled louder.
“Tell me I’m wrong!
“With judgment like this, how did you ever get to be Beast God?
“You should just hand your title to that lightning bolt. At least it knows who’s telling the truth!
“If you have time to throw lightning at me, maybe you should zap your own head and see if you can dry out the mess inside!

“You mess up picking, and now you can’t take criticism?
“You’ve got skin thicker than a Chaos Beast!”
Kieran and Matrik watched Marcus go off and quietly moved back another few steps.
A second later, thick storm clouds rolled in out of nowhere.
Huge streaks of lightning twisted through the sky.
Kieran and Malrik flashed to Emma’s side, grabbed her, and pulled Edric and Corvin away from the brewing storm.
“What is happening?” Corvin stared at the dark clouds, then at Marcus, who was still yelling at the sky,
He forced down a nervous gulp.
“Marcus… Is he actually yelling at the Beast God?
“What did the Beast God ever do to him?”
Emma stared at Marcus, clearly shaken.
“Did he actually manage to set off the Beast God?”
Why else would a calm Beast God throw lightning at him?
She’d been too far to hear their conversation.
She didn’t catch any of Marcus‘ tirade.
Malrik watched Marcus cursing, his face twisting. “Marcus… really does have the most ruthless mouth.”
Honestly, it was no surprise the Beast God took a shot at him.
Marcus, for his part, just glared at the thickening clouds, not looking afraid at all.
