Chapter 666 Thickening Clouds
Chapter 666 Thickening Clouds
Marcus was still dissing the Beast God.
“Oh, what’s the matter?
“You get called out, and now you’re upset?
“You trying to shut me up already?”
He stuck a finger toward the sky and wagged it, like he was telling off a spoiled kid.
Thunder rumbled overhead, louder and sharper, as though it wanted to warn Marcus for the last time.
Marcus ignored the noise. His mouth kept going, spitting out words rapid–fire.

“Touched a nerve, huh? You’re the one who picked that sorry group. Every single one of them has their own plan. They all want to use our huntress as a shortcut to become gods. How is that not your fault?
“Now, you’re talking about divine punishment? Give me a break. You’re just being childish.”
“Look at this lineup you picked. One’s slippery like a fox. The next one’s just a snake.
“You’ve got a walking ice sculpture, another one who barely speaks, and then there’s Kieran–he could win any acting contest.
“Not a single one of them is normal.
“You’ve managed to gather every oddball in one place.
“That so–called Beast God Mountain is just a collection site for rejects.”
Far away, Kieran’s expression darkened.
Did Marcus really have to drag him into this?
He could handle Alaric, but why include him, too?
Honestly, if the Beast God zapped Marcus, he would have deserved it.
The clouds seemed to freeze for a second, then the thunder crashed out with even more force.
Emma’s eyelids started twitching. She looked like she wanted to scream.
“That cloud looks terrifying. Marcus is going to be alright, right?
“The Beast God wouldn’t actually strike Marcus, right?”
Kieran watched the sky, eyes narrowed. He grabbed Emma’s wrist, making sure she didn’t dash out to shield Marcus from lightning.
He tried to reassure her.
“Emma, don’t stress.

“It looks rough, but Marcus isn’t going to die.
“At worst, he’ll need a bandage or two.
“Just give him one of Silas‘ flowers. He’ll walk it off”
Emma let out a breath. As long as Marcus didn’t die, she could relax a little.
Still, she thought Marcus was the gutsiest man in their family,
The thunderclouds pulled in a crowd from Ravaryn,
Everyone stared at Marcus, standing under the storm and shouting at the sky.
Their faces had lost all color.
No one had seen a therian act this bold.
Very few would dare to challenge the Beast God openly.
Those clouds looked ready to disintegrate anyone on the spot.
Kelly hurried over with her mate. She headed straight for Emma. She stared at Marcus, still yelling at the sky.
She looked rattled. “Emma, that’s your mate?
“What is he doing?
“I could swear he’s yelling at the Beast God.”
Was this young male out of his mind?
He might be Rank 12, but he was still yelling at the Beast God.
Emma, who had calmed down thanks to Kieran, didn’t look worried now.
She saw Kelly’s concern and answered, “Don’t worry.
“Marcus will be fine.”
“Why is he yelling at the Beast God?”
Falanx Draemont piped up.
“Maybe the Beast God upset him,” answered Corvin.
Falanx stared in disbelief.
“The Beast God?
“He actually managed to annoy a therian?”

It sounded wrong, no matter how he said it.
Marcus eyed the sky, lightning ready to strike any second.
He didn’t flinch. “Old man, you still stalling?
“If you’re so tough, go ahead and hit me.
“Or are you just making noise now because you’re past your prime?”
The words barely left his mouth before the clouds exploded with rage.
A wave of anger tore through the air.
The sound blasted down, rattling everyone’s ears with a roar that seemed to shake the world.
A blinding purple streak ripped out of the clouds, tearing toward Marcus like a dragon out for blood.
The flash was so harsh, every therian squeezed their eyes shut.
A barrage of thunder followed, so loud it felt like the world was about to split apart.

The floating island trembled. The Ravaryn therians closest to the strike turned ashen. Some dropped to the ground, legs giving out.
Falanx’s eyes went wide. “By the Beast God!”
He yanked Kelly and Corvin behind him, acting on pure instinct to shield them.
Lightning pounded down, relentless, every strike hitting Marcus again and again. Emma’s heart hammered in her chest.
Even though Kieran promised Marcus would be fine, seeing it herself made her feel like she was witnessing a god’s fury firsthand.
She clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white. She kept wondering if Marcus would make it through.
The lightning storm raged for five solid minutes.
At last, the final bolt faded, and the angry clouds started drifting away with a sulky slowness.
Sunlight broke through, washing the world in gold, as if the nightmare had finally lifted.
Everyone stared at Marcus. He stood at the bottom of a scorched pit.
He looked like he had just rolled out of a pile of charcoal.
His white hair stood up in burned clumps, little wisps of smoke curling off the ends.
Only his face still looked like a person’s. Everything else was pitch black.
Thankfully, his breathing sounded rough but steady. He’d only ended up with a few scrapes.
