Chapter 787 The Room
Chapter 787 The Room
Alaric and the others had arrived too late to witness how Corvin had previously arranged Marcus‘ room.
But Lucien, Silas, and Edric remembered it vividly.
Even so, none of them said a word.
They were simply curious to see what sort of disaster Corvin would create when decorating Jim’s room this time.
Emma, on the other hand, wasn’t especially worried.

She had already warned Jim beforehand, telling him to remind Corvin to keep the room looking normal. Surely, Corvin wouldn’t attempt anything eccentric again, right?
Besides, Jim was such a quiet, obedient beast. One glance at him was enough to tell that he wouldn’t enjoy anything remotely bizarre.

On the fifth floor, after directing the household robots to haul every package into Jim’s room, Corvin finally began the decorating
process in earnest.
Because Jim’s color palette leaned toward darkness, Corvin had deliberately chosen black spatial stone for the renovation.
Under his instructions, the robots carefully paved the entire floor and every wall with the stone.
The effect was immediate. The room’s interior expanded dramatically, its spatial capacity multiplying several times over, but the moment the installation finished, the once–bright chamber transformed into something else entirely.
The black spatial stone swallowed the light until the room resembled a bottomless abyss.
Standing in the middle of the darkness, Corvin nodded with satisfaction. The shade was exactly the same as Jim’s beast form.
t might be slightly too dark. That won’t do.
Fortunately, Corvin had planned ahead. Black alone would be oppressive, so he had prepared white to balance it.
With brisk efficiency, he ordered the robots to unpack the white cloud–silk he had selected earlier, prized for their featherlight, lowing texture.
‘These will hang along the walls. They’ll soften the heaviness of the black and add a kind of misty, celestial elegance,” Corvin explained with great confidence.
Under his direction, the robots suspended long ribbons of cloud–silk from the ceiling, letting them fall in straight, orderly cascades.
To preserve symmetry, Corvin spaced them evenly around the room, each white veil hanging against the black stone walls.
He also installed a natural airflow system, ensuring a gentle breeze circulated constantly throughout the space.
The gauzy white silk brushed the dark floor, stirring softly whenever the breeze passed through. The shifting fabric created an atmosphere that felt… indescribable.

Corvin frowned slightly as he looked around.

Something about the room felt strange, but he couldn’t quite pinpoint what. Maybe the room simply lacked furniture.
With that thought, he had the robots assemble the pieces he’d purchased and began arranging them.
To suit Jim’s habit of lying down whenever possible rather than sitting, he specially chose a huge, square black bed.
To make it convenient for Jim to collapse onto the bed at any moment, Corvin placed the bed directly in the center of the room.
The bed itself, however, looked far too dark, so Corvin retrieved a full set of pristine white bedding and layered it neatly over the black stone frame.
White sheets, white quilt, and white pillows.
Corvin stepped back and crossed his arms. “It’s still missing a bit of atmosphere.”
After another thoughtful scan of the room, inspiration struck.
At the center of the bed’s headboard, he placed a short black cabinet.
On top of it, he arranged a long–necked porcelain vase with an antique design.
To give the room a hint of vitality, he opened another package and removed a bundle of white artificial flowers, crafted so well they would never wilt.
Finally came the lighting.
Jim loved to sleep, so the illumination couldn’t be harsh. It had to be soft, quiet, and subtle.
Corvin directed the robots to hang two voice–activated lamps behind the curtains of white silk on either side of the bed.
When the lights flickered on, there was no warm golden light. Instead, he had chosen a pale white glow tinged faintly with icy blue, which was perfectly suited to the room’s dark palette.
A breeze drifted through the chamber.
The silk veils stirred.
Cold, ghostly light filtered through the gauze, falling across the enormous bed in the center of the room.
At the head of the bed stood the small cabinet with the white flowers, arranged with uncanny neatness.
Under the dim glow, it resembled something eerily similar to an offering altar. The entire room radiated an atmosphere of silence and solemnity.
Corvin stared in silence. Hold on. Why does this room look so different from what I had imagined?
Meanwhile, in the dining hall, Marcus finished directing the robots to tidy the area before suddenly speaking. “At this hour, Corvin should have finished decorating Jim’s room, shouldn’t he?”
