Chapter Eighteen

Damon stormed out of the restroom and found Gabriel standing by the elevator.

What’s wrong sir? Did the meeting go well?” Gabriel asked when he saw the look on his boss’s face.

I don’t want to talk about it.Damon dismissed him, his voice cold as ice.

Where’s the CEO?

She just left with her boyfriend Sir.

Shit!Damon cursed and pressed the elevator button repeatedly.

I need to see her before she leaves the company. There’s no way I’m letting her out of my sight again.

Who are you talking about Sir?

I’m talking about my wife damnit!Damon snapped. “There’s no way she’s leaving my side again.

Gabriel face twisted into one of confusion. But Mrs Cross has not left the building yet, Sir.

Not that bitch! I mean Mrs Black. The CEO of MPK!Damon barked as the elevator doors slid open. He stepped in and Gabrielle followed closely behind.

I don’t understand Sir. As far as I know, Mrs Black has never been seen on social media. And it appears she has a boyfriend.Gabriel clarify innocently, not understanding his boss agitation.

As far as he knew, Damon had been married before, then divorced, and later married Bella. The public knew his ex wife to be Amber Smith but not much was known about her. The two never appeared in public. Yet, Gabriel was such he’d recognize her if he saw her now.

She’s my ex wife you fool. She just changed her last name and her hair!Damon yelled in frustration. The elevator door slid open and he stepped out.

Gabriel continued to stare in shock as he came to a realization. No wonder he didn’t recognize her, she had. changed so much. Everything was starting to make sense now. He collected himself and stepped out of the elevator.

Damnit!Damon cursed as he saw a black car driving away. Although the mate bond had been severed, Damon knew instantly that it was Amber behind the wheel.

He reached for his phone and traced the number of his private investigator. He found it and dialed immediately.

Good day boss!A thick husky voice came through the moment the call connected.

What was the last information you gave me about Amber? Damon asked, trying to keep his tone controlled as he was in a public space at the moment.

We couldn’t find anything about her sir.

“Did that bitch threaten you?

I don’t know who you’re referring to sir?

I mean Bella damnit! Did she threaten you?

I don’t understand why you are saying this sir, but No, Mrs Cross didn’t threaten me. I just couldn’t find any trace of her anywhere in the world.

If I find out you lied to me Blake, I swear to God I’ll find you and skin you alive. Because I just found her here at

MPK and turns out she’s the owner. So get me every single Information you can about her on the last six years. I want to know where she’s been, where she lives, who she’s been with down to every single thing. I want a valid report in an hour.

I’ll get to work right away sir!

Damon ended the call and strode towards the car waiting in front for him.

Gabriel followed closely behind, afraid of being caught up in his boss’s fury.

Take me home,Damon ordered. The driver started the car engine and drove towards the pack home.

The drive back home was long and silent. Damon couldn’t stop thinking about Amber and how much she had changed. He tried to take his mind off her, but every thought that crossed his mind somehow led back to her.

She looked so beautiful now. And different from the last time he saw her.

Damon felt a pang pierced his chest as that memory of her lashed through his mind. Back then she had looked so weak and fragile, unlike the woman he’d seen today.

He clenched his fist as he felt the guilt washing over him. He couldn’t believe he had left her to rot in that cell, while he showered Bella with affection and all the luxury that came with being Luna.

You’re so stupid Damon. You had her on a platter of gold and you let her go!Damon muttered under his breath.

After what felt like an eternity, the car finally pulled up at the pack house. Damon helped himself down immediately.

The moment his feet touch the ground, a small voice broke through his turmoil.

Daddy!

Damon looked up to see a little girl standing by the entrance. The moment she saw him, she ran towards him and wrapped her tiny arms around his legs.

Damon felt the anger and tension wash away from his face the moment she hug his leg. He crouched down and pulled her into a tight embrace, as if she was the only thing keeping his sanity in check.
